thanks to yellowmikebike for bringing radius rod bushings to my attention. Mine are in correctly but they look very flattened out. i can't get one of the nuts off and broke 2 of my tools trying. with 444,000kms on the chassis, no knowledge of the bushings ever being replaced, and extensive research on worn bushing effects, i have come to the conclusion that it may very well be causing all my problems.

i ordered some moog replacements that will be here tomorrow. hopefully i will get them on tomorrow night and post my results.

changed the bushings. old ones were pancaked and soft. can tracks much much better now and maintains a straight line on the road, but that's really all that's better now. all the shakes are still there.

bringing this old thread back from the dead to post a solved for any searchers.

turned out to be a combination of a whole lot of things.

    - worn ball joints (2x lowers)
    - worn sway bar bushings
    - worn tie rod end (1x)
    - alignment
    - rebalance tires
    - warped rotors

none of the above were worn terribly, but enough for them to all add up to a very annoying problem.
