this might be a noob question, but...

im about to re-inherit back my '86 2wd wagovan. im looking at the dohc zc, or d16a1 since it now needs a motor. will the zc engine bolt up to my 5spd 2wd tranny? what else is involved in the whole process. ill be switching it from carb to mpfi, but ive already read about that on this site.

    You'll need a 86-89 teg tranny...I pretty sure.
I never really paid attention since I'm 4wd.

If you're going for dohc, try and find a browntop ZC. They're rated at 135PS(133hp) versus the D16a1 rated at 113(86-87) or 118(88-89). You would notice the difference. And like we've gone over here before, the vacuum advance (113hp) conversion is ten time easier than the electronic advance(118hp). So 113 or 133? Twenty horsepower says ZC.

Or...I'm sitting on a very nice EW block thats all built up for turbo but never installed. Its got rods/pistons/ARP hardware and its even been overbored to run teg pistons. Just needs a head and a homemade turbo for some serious power. PM if you're interested.

ok so i think im going to go through gomotors.com to get the motor/trans. im going to do with the d16a1 brown top/trans. theyre asking 450 for the motor and 350 for the tranny. but my question is, since ill have to buy the ecu seperate, does anyone know the ecu code ill need for the brown top setup?
