SL gear on 4WD 6spd

hiya guys
i have a 1.6 4WD, and it has the SL 1st 1st gear for the grass, hill starts etc

but i swear i only have 5 forward gears. its really wierd, its like i cant select SL, or SL and 1st and extremely close. i never know what gear im selecting from standing

is there a way to test it out?
ive tried loads of smooth and slight movements, but i never know if im in 1st or SL...

any help appreciated

    i know you kinda have to jam the gear lever over hard to get it to pop into SL.

    its like german cars. move the stick over like you are going to put it into 1st. then pull it more to the left and it will go. it will fight you but its supposed to be like that so you dont put it in SL instead of first. great thing, unlike german cars you dont have to push the stick down to get it to go over there. if your still having problems I will make a vid of it.

    FYI!!!!!!! SL is exactly what it says SUPER LOW. at 10mp/h with my SOHC ZC I was rocking 4k rpms. my manual i got for the car says you should shift it to first then to second when comming out of SL but I just go straight to 2nd. hope that helps. Also I wouldnt use SL in your daily driving. I only use it offroad and in the snow. If it rains hella bad where you are find a nice piece of wet grass and put it in SL and see what it does.

    i read the manual the night i got it. max speed around 20, where as 1st is mid-30's iirc

    Yeah the SL and 1st are pretty close. If I use the SL I have to completely shift into neutral before I can go into first, if I try to shift into second or first directly from SL it goes into third or fourth. You can definitely not quick shift SL into first or second, well at least I haven't figured it out.

    Quite the contrary; mine can be quick shifted with no stress SL - 1- 2..etc Super easy for it to, I've driven another RT4WD and didn't notice.

    I think my problem is when I pull it out of SL I never really get all the way out so I just put it back into SL accidentally, or I go to far and put it into fourth. I don't use SL much and its even rarer that I try to quick shift into another gear with it.

    As said sometimes you really have to give it some elbow grease to move her into gear. Someday you may find a story of how i found my SL gear.

    I snapped a pin trying to put mine in SL when i first got it haha :oops:
