I carefully put hair gel/wax on the letters with a toothpick before I painted it. Then you wait for the paint to dry and wipe the painted gel off the letters.
a few more interesting ones i found on hater-tech...
Wow epic small world but WTF is a pic of my old vc doing on honda tech!? I posted this forever ago back when I had my ef. Didn't think I'd ever see it on THIS forum. I only posted it on cb7tuner, no where else haha. Glad some people like it though
Is that on the 1.7 stroker Danz? That' pretty sweet! How's that thing working out now? Figure out the oiling concerns? If you come across a 1.7 crank I'm looking once again.

yes sir. thats your old valve cover! hah. its working great. 9000km on it so far so good!
So i have toyed with the idea of doing some custom valve covers for myself and a few friends. I am a painter in a bodyshop during the daytime, and i have some time to kill in the evenings lol. I started playing with my girlfriends valve cover and ended up with a cool design that a few people liked.
Then a friend of ours got ahold of me and wanted me to do some custom stuff to his because he liked the one i did for her. He had me shave his lettering off as well as cut off the cam gear part so his cam gears would be exposed. First thing i do is completely strip the valve cover down to bare metal.
Then i went ahead and shaved off the lettering.
I dont have any pre-shots of the cam gear side....but this is what i ended up with after i finished.
I have a couple more in my garage that im looking to get done. i have 3 d-series valve covers i am going to do some designs on. Also working on one for a mazda friend of mine. I'll post some pictures when i get them done.
thanks man. the one on my girlfriends car has been on there for roughly 40k miles and doesn't have any heat wear at all. So im pretty happy about it. I'm not looking to do any for people i dont know right now. I want to make sure i have all the kinks worked out before i do anything for the "public"

that blue one is smooth as!!
im tempted to do some draw-on ones, but im so picky about what to put on them, and what will work without looking odd
thanks bro..lmao i have a broken VC stud in the pic of the blue one..also the blue valve cover turned into the grey/silver sharpie VC in the last pic
Im guessing masking it off, but I just want to be sure before I mess mine up.
That's how I do the ones I have painted.
not a honda but this is my old 20v turbo motor in my other car.

smart move.
And i've also got one of these...
I quite like this one, but the photo is a little deceiving (whole picture looks off colour).
Is that a matt black or a matt grey?
