rebuilding the a6 or would it just be easier and cheaper to find a z6 or SOHC or DOHC ZC? just want to know what everyone thinks? any input would be great. thanks in advance.

    Well what are you goals? My .02, get A1 pistons, A6 bottom end, Z6 head. I have seen these motors and they will put down more power to the wheels then a b16 with I/H/E

    not exactly sure what my goals are right now. just getting some ideas together. it'll be a while before I can do anything along these lines.

    I vote rebuild. You can always "throw" another motor at something to save some money. However, the money spent (which may turn out to be the same or even less!) on a rebuild gives you 1) a sense of accomplishment 2) recycles in a way 3) gives you the new found knowledge of how to rebuild a motor and 4) will give you a much larger sense of attachment than you may already have to your car.

    rebuild, pee on a zc (unless your motor is totally toast ;))
