Borla muffler from an Audi?

I have an opportunity to buy a Borla muffler for $25 that was taken off an Audi (not sure what model though). I'd be pretty stupid to not take this right? I mean, for $25, that's a great deal, ya!? That is assuming it will fit the wagon? It will fit right? Come on peeps, ease my mind a little...

  • it would really help to know what kinda of audi... but you make just about anything work (if you have the tools and know how) I think $25 is a good price, but do you know of how good of shape it is in?
  • Like he said just about anything can work. I have had VW mufflers stuck on the car now for about a year. I have had them welded on right to left, and from front to back. You might have to weld on some hangers for it and weld on some extra piping to get it to fit right.

Snap a pic and post it up.

A muffler it self is universial. The imput and tail pipes dictate what cars it will fit on.

Do they really sound all the different?

what do you mean, different Borlas? im sure the inlet and oulet sizes vary the different overall tones of each muffler. i would assume the bigger the louder.

then there is different models of mufflers, like the Pro XS.
  • i'm convinced a trained ear could instantly
pick out the characteristic 'Borla' from all
    the different brands

my Borla has quite a distinct sound from all those other shitty exhausts. i include such brands like Skunk2 and Vibrant in classifying shitty sounding on a Honda. too loud, obnoxious and just dumb. Greddy is pretty good, but still a bit loud.

Borla is the grown up version of exhausts.
  • Unfortunately

Lol Tanabe and RS*R makes the best sounding exhuast. The Greddy Sp2 is pretty decent as well.

Unfortunately though if you want to support boost mods a loud exhaust is near mandatory. Had a friend that had a 2 1/4" exhaust on a boosted b18 and he swithed to a 3" Thermal. Gained about 30 horses at the wheels by going with the 3". But an idling 3" sounds very raspy, loud, and not to nice.

From our short phone conversation, I didn't get the make of Audi it came off. I do know there were 2 for sale so I'm assuming a dual exhaust... He's already sold one. It comes with a welded on chrome tip. it's about 14" x 9"|
    with 2.5" inlet and outlet.

i had a full Thermal catback on my DA w/ B16 and it sounded very nice indeed... but, i still like the sound of my Borla better.
not exactly sure what a Tanabe sounds in person, but from what i see on youtube it doesnt have such a nice distinct sound. at least for the D-series. im not running boost so it doesnt matter either
