RT4wd needs new engine...

Okay, doing this on a budget, no miniZ swaps or anything. My dream car forever has been a 90-91 RT4WD. I got a step closer with a 91 5 speed with 60K miles, but no RT for me. Car is a mess, has some serious body damage and has been used as a daily driver parked under a carport when it rains. I came across a 91 RT4wd with a blown motor and if I can get it for the right price, thinking of bring it home and swapping over the motor from my 91 into this 91. I've searched and searched here and all I ever find is info on better motors. I just need a basic swap for now and if I can get the RT91 for cheap, i could be in my "dream car" for pretty cheap and have a pretty decent engine. Plus the car I'm driving right now is pretty much totaled, well, I think an insurance company would have done that ages ago, former owner avoided that somehow.
Anyways, thoughts and advice? The girlfriend said she would buy the RT for me if the swap won't require anything but a day or two of time under the hood.

thanks!

i say buy a used SOHC non-VTEC ZC japanese engine from hmotorsonline.com
thats basically the same motor as the RT4WD wagon, just a little more power and way low miles.

if you know what you are doing, and have the proper tools the swap wouldnt take longer then 2 days.

i did my swap, ALL ALONE, no power tools, no engine hoist, nothing... in less then 2 days. taking the engine out took 3 hours (granted i already had stuff like exhaust off the car..also mine is a 2WD so no messing around with 4WD drive-shaft stuff) and put the replacement engine in in about 6 hours...and only because i spent about and hour and a half washing the engine bay and new motor... also it took a while lifting the damn motor into place and connecting it to the tranny without and engine hoist, just raw "man" power and jacks

    anyways.
  • I'd love to do that right now, but the funds are just lacking at this point. So is it possible to put my 5spd engine into the RT car without any issues(tranny mounts up, wiring, etc).
And yeah, the 2 day estimate is pretty generous. I double the time for having to go buy tools, food/drink/beer for helpers, etc...

yeah you can used the engine. only the long block though (that is, no intake manifold, header, tranny)

its all a direct bolt on! use the stock header, tranny, intake manifold... everything will wire up too and bolt together.

Alright, I'm gonna check the car out tomorrow I hope and see what kind of shape it's in, car has somewhat high mileage, but looks decent from the pics.

    Appreciate the help!
