New Clutch Question

I just dropped a DOHC ZC in the "hot rod" and while doing so I installed a exedy clutch/presure plate and a Fidanza flywheel. The new clutch is the same as the old one out but I had to run the adjustment nut on the clutch cable almost all the way down.(Don't remember if it was like that before I removed the engine :? ) Inside the car the pedal feels fine but it just seems like it leaves me with next to no adjustment for the clutch. Anyone have weird issues like this or some advice? Its a first for me.

  • I think mine was the same, can't remember though. If i remember I'll look later.
  • I'm thinking that the RT4wd flywheels might be thicker to keep up more inertia for all the 4wd junk so when I switched to the fidanza I lost some of that thickness..

My "stock replacement" clutch i got from clutch masters was the same way. was really floppy at first. after it got broken it it stiffened up BIG time. As for the adjuster your bracket my be diff or bent?

Or maybe your clutch pedal assembly is breaking or broken.

Yeah the pedalbox in these cars has a tendancy to snap particularly on the part holding up the clutch pedal, i'd be checking that first.
  • Pedal assembly is fine. The clutch cable has so much play until I thread the adjuster nut all the way down, there is probably an inch and a half of thread above the nut. It just seems like it should be more in the middle. One thing that I didn't think about is the clutch cable maybe being stretched out but it looks like a newer cable... maybe its the wrong one.. or maybe I'm trippin cause the car is still up on the jack stands and I haven't test driven it yet. DAMN LOWER EXH MANI BOLTS!!! ALWAYS SNAPPIN ON A MUTHA FUCKA!!!
  • Don't stress mang!!! It will all work out
