Strange Starter

So I put on a new muffler and the starter went out on me.

I had an extra that came off of a '90 SI hatch so I put it in last night. The surprise was it was completly different than the one I took out but still worked. I'm quite happy it worked, I was changing it rather late at night and it would have been really tough to find a store selling starters at that hour.

Here's a photo, the wagon on the left the hatch on the right.

There's a $3 set of contacts in the back end of the starter that takes about 15 minutes to replace. I've done it 3-4 times over the years. 99% of the time, that's the only thing wrong with an older Honda starter.

I haven't opened it up or anything. I just had the one on the right as a spare. I might do that one of these days, probably about the time I start having starter problems again.
