Just a thought.
I'll get us started with specs from my USDM 89 wagon. Should be the same for 88-91 EXCEPT the front corner lights and turn signals. First, the lenses.
Headlight:
Corner light (88-89):
Corner light (90-91):
Front turn signal (88-89):
Front turn signal (90-91):
88-89 and 90-91 lenses are NOT interchangeable - they are different sizes. I tried.
Tail lights:
Obviously there are separate pieces for the turn/brake corner lights and the brake/reverse lights on the hatch.
Comments
Low beam - 9006
High beam - 9005
Turn signal (front AND rear) - 1156
Park - 1157
Front sidemarker, ashtray (90-91) - 194
Rear sidemarker, license plate - 168
(From my experience, you can use a 194 to replace a 168 - the bulbs are the same size and shape)
Brake/tail, reverse - 2057
Center brake - 921
Dome - 13050
1990-1991 EDM Adjustable single lens headlights and EDM/JDM clear corners.
H4 bulb. clear corners have the same bulb as the USDM parking lights.
No mounting brackets. the headlight assembly itself has the mounting holes.
here is a picture of the adjustment switch (sorta).. its the one in the lower dash. next to the sunroof switch
These are the dual lens units that are NOT adjustable from inside the car. They are still a Euro beam pattern, with a sharp light cutoff up and to the left from oncoming traffic. (JDM lenses would have the opposite beam pattern since they drive on the left side of the road.)
Low/high beam: H4
High beam: H1, with a special adapter that allows it to plug into a 2-prong outlet.
In converting my car from USDM to EDM, I bought 4 standard 3-prong sockets for H4 headlights. I wired the grounds to the car's grounds, low beam power to the low beams, and high beam power to the high beams on BOTH lenses. I simply cut the 3rd wire off the inboard lenses (high beam only) and reused that wire as a jumper to the high beams on the outboard (low/high beams) lenses. So if your lights are off but you flash your high beams, all four of them will flash - much more visible than USDM!
BTW, the pic of the taillights are of Civic Type R taillights
Yes, I did put a genuine Civic Type R badge on my 91 FWD wagon. In the true ricer spirit, it had absolutely NO performance mods whatsoever - well, except for a little weight reduction where it rusted.
I had a few lights out in my instrument cluster (the amber lights above the gauges) and one in my climate control thinger, so I went to the local parts store and picked up the bulbs that EVERYONE says belong in there: 74's. They DON'T fit. The base is just a hair too large, and the bulb itself is too wide to fit into the sockets. I tried a few different manufacturers' bulbs, too, just to make sure I didn't get a bad set of them, but none of them fit.
So, I started buying bulbs that looked close, and found that 2721's fit perfectly. I think the ones that came out of the car were rated for 1.4w, and these are (I think) 1.2w bulbs, but I can't tell the difference. Hope this helps someone.
