ignore that last post.. so i blew the Alt fuse... AGAIN. this was my first big problem in the beginning of the install... there is absolutely not enough space between the Alt insulator and the JRSC. why the hell not??! wasnt this shit made for this car?! blah... .
anyways, it runs now though.. but idles very rough. i drops constantly from 1800 rpms down to almost 0 every other second. kinda like "vroooooom *drop* vroooooooom *drop*etc. and is squeaks like there is something that needs to be greased, and now a new issue is that there is a efkin loud sound like a French Horn blowing coming from the JRSC. wtf, did i get a faulty JRSC? are the bearings going bad on top of everything else?!.
the rough idle and the surging idle is most likely a vacuum leak.
check your hoses.
check the throttle cable(too tight?)
the squeak : where is it coming from?
mine makes noise if the belt isn't tight enough and i did have an idler pulley go bad once.

i swear i am never modding anything again as long as i live.
once you get past the bugs you will recant that statement....then i will tell you how to up the boost
i 2nd that. installing boost is time consuming and there are bugs to work out. you think you have down time now, at least its not a turbo install, very time consuming, then bugs. performance come's with a price, sometime's time, maybie parts, or wiring, so on and so on. it will pay off in the end though. keep up the good work though, hang in there!
vacuum leak is probable, and try the idle screw. ive always had to mess with idle on boosted honda's
soon you will have so much fun with this thing you'll be changing out the clutch lol

i have a Nippon type alt., meaning nothing needs modding.
throttle cable was checked a few times, i can't see where there might be vaccum leaks. i checked all the lines. i can go back again i guess (next weekend..)
the squeak isnt a loose belt, its sounds like something that needs lubricant. could be the pulley i guess.
When I inquired about that JRSC, I was told it didn't have any original gaskets... is that true? You got this from WagonWheeler right? Maybe you have a bad vacuum/boost leak.
yeah i got it from him. i used some Hondabond to make a new gasket, so i'm sure its sealed tight.

I don't know why even asked, you know what your doing. Put my foot in my mouth
theres a reason jrsc are not around anymore! cus they suck! sorry no afence. my friend had nothing but problems with his.
lol, i remember you had interest in this back in september.
yea there was a guy where i live that wonted to trade a jrsc for some greddy sohc turbo parts. manifold, oil pan, ifmic w/ pipping and some other shit turbo took a shit but i was going to run a evo 3 big 16g but its long gone so i am making my own.
-i filled up with premium 93 octane fuel
-installed Walbro fuel pump
-regapped spark plugs
and the car?
-still pings and smokes when it pings. can't hardly drive it. so im not.
-exhaust smells like fireworks
-idles at 2000 rpms, all vacuum lines hooked up fine. after driving it, it still idles high, then drops, idles high, then drops, back and forth every second or so.
-check engine light comes on all the time if im going like 60 + mph (o2 sensor), and when it does car starts running shitty
if it wasnt for the pinging, car would be drivable. (besides the stupid idle issue and check engine light)
give me a good reason why i shouldn't go back to stock and call quits for now. POS is pissing me off.
smells like fireworks cause the fuel and detination combo has melted the cat, you might want to check to see if its all pluged up now.
yeahhhhhhh story of my life
sorry my friend, just check it, it may still be ok. if not buy a test pipe until ya need the sniff test if they still do that where you live. as for chicago its obd2 and up only for emissions and no sniffer.
Never give up! Its absurd to take everything back off again after all this time and effort.
There are others who would kill to do this mod.
Your problem is going to be very simple I assure.
One thing I noticed, nothing was mentioned about your iacv?
Do you have a timing gun as well?
Pm me when you get the time.
i took it out last night, adjusted the timing to all the way retarded. most of the pinging went away, and it was driving pretty good. however, if i hit the gas hard it was still pinging a little.
IACV? i had everything (sensors, etc..) bolted up and wired to the JRSC intake manifold

I've had a plugged cat make an engine run like absolute crap until it was replaced. Plagued me for the longest time - I thought it was an ignition issue! So yeah, it couldn't hurt to at least unbolt the manifold from the cat and take a quick (LOUD) drive to see if you get any power back. At least try it before you pull the JRSC. I'm with akiraboy - you seem so close to having it right, it would be a shame to undo all the work unless you're absolutely sure it can't be fixed.
Though I'm sure you'd have NO problem selling the JRSC on the forum.....
Do you think it could be a really really simple issue...like an idle sensor?
i know you're no newbie to fuel issues, but possibly something to do with the fuel pressure/mixture when hitting the gas going faster....from what i understand the check engine light is usually an fuel/air/pressure issue
Also, what ECU are you using? is it chipped? I know a few friends who have had their ECU's remapped (for their b18 and 16s turbo set ups).
Comments
calm down...you didn't get the instructions with this did you? there is a step in the instructions that tells you to mod the postion of the alternator ternimal.

but for that loud horn sound...wtf?! lol

buy a rocket
lol ah ha ha ha ha i found this and thought it was funny you said that!
wagon is going back to stock. why? because i have no money. literally, nothing.
my plans are as follows.... work the summer, and get the following:
-D15B SOHC VTEC engine
-OBD-1 conversion w/ P28 ECU
-HR Tuning electrical dood-dads
-reinstall JRSC
AND HAVE FUN! also hopefully i shall have my DD hatchback done by then =]
ok. so yeah. i wish i could say it was fun while it lasted, but that isnt the case, seeing as i couldnt drive it. ever. hehe
first $2000 takes all HAHAAH
yeahhhhhhh story of my life

most overlooked problem
yet ...
At this point, I'd pull it and check for peace of mind.
anyways, its basically running good now. except...
-wacked idle issue
-still pings if i hit the gas hard.

i actually am quite a big newb when it comes to fuel systems lol.
who many sensors are there? i there are only like three 4 on the intake manifold.. all were working previously, before this install. :?
