oil pressure problems

when i start the motor the oil pressure is fine but after about 10 seconds the oil light will come on and i completely lose any and all flow of oil and it starts ticking really bad. is there anything i should check before i tear the motor apart to replace the pump? .... i just paid to have this motor installed and didnt get more than a mile before the oil light came on :evil:

    bone stock ... got the motor on craigs. the guy said 120K on it

    Bad Oil Pump?? Starving the head of oil??? I'm not completely sure but somethings I would check first.

    Ya, my experience has been it leads to an oil pump. I'm sure somewhere there are diagnosis tips...

    bad main bearings ... some punk sold me a bad motor :evil:
