My wagon (it's a FWD to) has no problem with the snow and the cold. Wrong tires? :D

my wagon's 2wd, and I choose to live where the water stays liquid...
  • i dont know had now problems last year at all. though i did have dpfi d15. thats the only difference. doesnt matter what gear all tire spin! :? had it raised up this year even. now dropped it back down thats better somehow but still!

haha i know bambam i move here from florida! but what to choose hurricanes or snow?
  • I have a problem too. I don't have my rt4wd to go drifting, i mean driving in the snow that's dumping on us right now!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But at least it's getting a new clutch this weekend!! WOOHOO!!!!!!
  • I don't have any problems.. I snow plowed my driveway with my car, drifted all over the place and never was stuck. All this with some Yokohama S.Drives that are better suited for a track day than anything that deals with moisture. Wish I had pictures, but why stop the fun for an action shot???

i belive you i did the same last year! i just took snow tires off because my ziex work better. but still somet'n is def different!

Yeah, you just need some good tires and your FWD wagon will do fine in this stuff. I seem to have lost the video of myself doing an ice time trial on a frozen lake with some Yoko snow tires on my 91 FWD wagon. Worked great. I'm sure my RT4WD wagon will do better, being... well, RT4WD and on studded tires and all. But the FWD did just fine.

If you have good tires... you're a shitty driver, period!

I love laughing at people that cant handle driving in the conditions. I was in Arizona for a few years, and I'd come back to visiit and giggle at all the stuck cars.

hahaha thats real original :? look my car just dont move in the snow right now ok. i can simply let the clutch out and the tires spin i end up getting out and pushing it while its in gear just to move it out of the parking lot. there is nothing dragging on the underside i checked the wheel bearings they spin free, and the brakes are not dragging! read closer i had no problems last year or any year!

i can say i have thought of some things that are different.
my trans is on its way out! diff is real sloppy, but it was last year as well.
my motor mounts, i have suffed them the silicone way. maybie the motor now cant move a little to let it grip? does anyone else use solid or solid aftermarket mounts in the snow?
also i have not changed the radius rod bushings yet, possibility?

i just wanted some advice on some peoples related problem if they had one (besides tires)
    thanx
    :)

Sounds like you've got your answers.

Just sounded to me like you were trying to make some sort of power-weight reference. My swapped hatch rocks the shit in the snow with all-seasons.

Except now its slammed. So I dont drive it in the snow.

Equipment makes up for ability sometimes. Ya feel me?

Have you tried just letting out the clutch slowly without any gas to see if she walks away?

yea, i love it when it snows, mainly for the driving fun. i just need to get under the car and dig the problem out. that is the problem i dont push the gas at all it just spins 1 tire letting it out the clutch. i think the diff is to blame open always spun both wheels until it got grip its not doing that at all. just gotta sort it out. :? thanks
  • What size tires are you running? Fat wide ones won't cut through the snow like thin ones will. My wagon is running some thin 13's on it and I have never had an issue with snow. Mine is 4wd though but it handles much better in the snow with the thin 13's then it did with the 205/50/15 snow tires. Better to cut through the snow then travel on top.

My hatch on the right tires lowered 3.5'' had no issues in the snow. The b-series rt owns people left and right every drive I take. Having a blast so far this winter.
