skunk 2 pro question

got them in today, the direction said to cut the bump stop (the yellow thing) down to 1-1.5 inches, has anyone actually done that?

also, the directions said i would reuse parts from the factory shock, however, when i assembled the skunk2 per the directions all the necessary parts were included. anyone know what stock parts i was supposed to re-use? :?:

  • to compound my problems, the driver side front fork that goes on the bottom of the shock, the bolt that hold it in place...somehow managed to pull all the threads out with it. yeah.

I've got the Pro-S set, I've cut the bumpstop down to the last lump. But 1-1,5 inch is about right. Depends on your ridehight I quess. I reused no OEM parts, just assembled the pro-S set and then they fit directly onto the car.

There's a instructions video on the skunk2 website how to assemble the shock. It differs from the technical sheet that comes with the set.
  • cool thanks for the response. how low do you have yours set, any issues with bottoming out?

I think it will be no more than 4cm to 5 cm. Any lower and my tires are rubbing inside.

I think what they mean when they say reuse OM parts is referring to the tophats. A lot of suspension for Hondas are advertised with tophats in place, so they have to say that so you dont expect new ones when you get your product.

I assembled it as the video on skunk2.com, hopefully I did it right,...
  • not really saying the directions they sent me were right, as we've already discussed, but in the picture in those its the other way around, however, thinking about it i don't think it really matters

that's what I thought,... For me this is the most reasonable way to assemble the bumpstop.
