Thank you all for you replies. But, I am trying to find where i put the transmission oil. I do not see a resovoir or a cap no where where it says TRANSMISSION FLUID. Does the transmissio fluid have to be pumped into the transmission. If so where is it located on the transmision.

    Thank you all,

There's actually 2 fill holes, but everyone uses the 1 pictured above.I'll try to get you more specifics later.Pump is NOT needed. In the pic the mechanic is filling from the bottom.I like doing it from the top.Just use a clear tube & funnel.

 If you crawl under the Pass(usdm) axle side & look up that's what you see in that pic shown above.I believe that's the drain plug @ the bottom of the pic.

This is how you're going to find it.The fill plug is removed w/a 17mm sockt. This part I'm 80% sure.If you look at the drain plug as 5 o'clock & the axle as the center, then the fill plug is at 9 o'clock.Use the 17mm sckt to verify this by trying it on all the bolts in the area.I doubt any other bolt is this large. If you break anything don't blame or flame me.
  • I use a funnel with a piece of tranny hose on the end. Fill up the trans through the dipstick hole. 2.5 qts for 2wd and 2.9 qts for 4wd both dexron II
  • I read a how to thread on removing axles. I think it was on honda tech. Whoever wrote it up pointed out that there is a sensor you can take off the top of the trans, and use the exposed hole to fill the trans up. He even had a picture of him really easily filling it will a really long funnel. I'll keep looking and post a link if I can find it.

lol. i should've stated i did it this way with the new one i put in. i broke the 3/8 driver trying to get the drain plug loose

    It wasn't a 17mm socket,but a 17mm wrench.You can see the drain plug from the top @ the 9 0'clock position.
  • That is something that has always confused me is why doesn't the RT4WD have a spot for a tranny dipstick? I don't seems weird to me.

I havn't seen many MT with a dipstick... usually only haulers.
  • ok i looked it up in my manual
    oil level inspection
1.check with the oil at operating temperature , then turn engine off and check it in a level area
2.Remove the oil filler plug and check the level with a finger
3.Oil must be up to the hole , and if low pour untill it runs out a bit from the hole and put the plug in again.
    Transmission oil change
1.Drain oil at operating temperature ,engine off ,and level to ground
2.Remove the the plug and drain
3.reistall the plug with new washer so it wont leak and refill to proper level.

ok the oil filler plug is above the drain plug it on the top left part of the tranny right above of the drain plug about 6 inches above hope that helps

oh and it takes 1.8 lts. ( 1.9) quarts after drain if overhauled its 1.9lts.(2.0)quarts
