'884WD clutch bracket busted

So I guess it's my turn for the clutch bracket to go. My dad and I pulled off the damaged one yesterday.

I ordered a new one from the dealer. Problem is, there was none available specifically for an '88 Wagon 4WD. The only one available was for a '91 Wagon DX, part # 46590-SH5-A41. My dad calls me at work and tells me that it won't work. Not that I don't believe him, but I gotta see it for myself.

So my question is. Has anyone replaced theirs before? If so, what part number and application bracket did you use?

If this doesn't work, I may have to resort to welding my broken one. Otherwise I will have to spend some quality time at the junkers trying to find the correct one.

TIA

  • I pulled the whole pedal set out of wrecked car, a hatch I believe. Junk yard charged next to nothing for for it and it went right in without any problems.

Okay so it looks like that it is indeed a different part. I'm gonna have to resort to welding my broken one instead. I will take pictures of the two brackets to show the differences.

Here is the picture of the two. It's a bit hard to see the differences, but the new one definitely won't work.

  • Weld it! Mine is and it's rock solid now.

I got mine from another shuttle in the wrecker here

I read somwhere (probably here) that the sedan and hatch EF clutch bracket are slightly different size to the shuttle ones
