Here's some pics of the making of a CF hood, the frame is made with carbon on the bottom side also. I'll post some pictures of bonding in the hinge and latch hardware next.
Don't cry, but the original cmerce hood has been "modified"! I needed to get some underhood heat out in a big way. This was the easiest way to accomplish it. Don't know yet if I'm going to put some sort of mesh on it or not.
Here's some build pics of bonding in the latch and hinge hardware. I use CF for reinforcing the back of the hood frame, these hoods are definitely the best design out there.
Im here in alaska and our winters are fairly brutal.
Clearcoat protects the CF from moisture absorption. The finish will last the same amount of time as a normal body panel. Also, the clear is thick enough to be sanded and buffed later down the road.
Yeah my kitchen is really nice you should see the woman who cooks in there... I make composites for a living, this is a side project for fun. If you want a hood I will make you one.
hopefully ordering 2 sometime in january, i got a buddy who wanted a cf hood but was heartbroken when i told him they didnt make em
beautiful work and will you be making other cf parts? (fenders and such?)

I also bought a set of their louvred vents, but they're too big for the hood.
lol
Will you buy him a huge oven?
Also, pre-preg costs about 3 times as much...
Sucks for you.
9/10 people probably couldn't tell the difference...
