I'm glad the weight was within spec after all. I was using a digital fish scale that didn't work to well after dropping it on the ground one time.
How's that supercharger coming together? Is the engine runnable minus the carbon drive shaft? I gotta get a supercharger on my ride soon, 1.6 liters = Not a torque monster.
Man that hood looks good...It's to bad there is no way to make the hump go up instead of indent down into the hood like the sir civic/crx and jdm sedan front ends have... if no one knows what I'm talking about look at the jdm crx/civic front end hoods and you'll see the difference...freaken sweet nonetheless
Thanks for the compliments on my work, I really appreciate it. It took a long time to make this mold and come up with a recipe for making the hood weigh out at 10 pounds (for a racing spec hood).
I'd be glad to make some more hoods for anyone who wants one. It should take me 3-4 weeks to complete each hood. I wish I could make them faster but I just got a new job at Status Racing making all there carbon and kevlar racing seats. I'll get started this weekend on laying up more carbon hood skins.
I WANT ONE!!!!! I was havin a local guy make me one and he dissapeared, so i thought i was gonna be shit outa luck to u came to the rescue! haha lemme know whats up so we can work somethin out plz!
Yeah I can do the colored carbon. The material you are talking about is actually colored kevlar (bullet proof vest fabric) interweaved with black carbon. I can also do Texalium a.k.a. "silver carbon fiber" which is fiberglass coated with aluminum, pretty cool looking stuff.
A hood done with the specialty fabrics would cost half a Benjamin Franklin more than a carbon hood.
I want a complete carbon body civic myself. I'm starting with some door skins that are epoxied to the steel door frame. I decided to do this because I was checking out the Seibon/VIS ones and they are totally crappy fiberglass/ a layer of carbon attached to a steel frame. So I figured why not do it all carbon and no shitty chop strand glass.
Omg i just messed in my pants  Very nice work!!!!!!!
when you make these for others will you have the hood latches on them? or would we need to do what jakers did? I might put off my turbo kit purchase for one of these.

If anyone is interested in a hood I can do them for $600 which is only slightly more than a Seibon hood but way better in quality and lighter weight. There are options you can add also, like Jaker wanted a foam core so I laminated it in there for my cost which is $40.

He said he's making them with hood latches.
Yeah there is potential to make a complete clear hood with the right transparent resin. That would be cool.
