No Heat, No temp gauge = Thermostat?

Hopefully this is in the right forum!
Ok so if the car has warmed up and at a stop the temp gauge reads right where it should just below a half and my heat is relativly hot. But as soon as I drive the car the temp gauges drops all the way down to the bottom like its not even reading and my heat blows a luke warm at best.
My guess is the thermostats not opening correctly, or something else?

Just boil the jug and pour it into a bowl and then chuck the thermostat in the bowl, if it opens it works. Then pull it out and see if it will close again.
BUT DON"T USE YOUR HANDS PLZ!!!!!
LOL....Exactly! I'll have to give that a shot, it doesn't help with the temp in the upper 20's all day either.
LOL! So true! At least you're half a world away from the lawsuit happy U. S. of A. where someone would certainly sue your ass if they read this advice on a forum you run and burned themselves in the process - as much as they do deserve it.
