I would like to have made this topic a poll but I just wanted to see where everyone is at..
I think there are a lot of b swap plans goin on lately but the dohc zc is still a fave as well as the d series vtecs. It was also mentioned in the lounge section that a v6 setup is possible.

Here are examples:
D series vtec
DOHC ZC
K series
B series motors
F & H series
S2000 rear drive conversions
V6 Honda motor???

I personally have a b18 with a b16 head, forged internals & a crv trans. Its pretty much up in the air what I have planned from here but I really want to make this a screamer.
I also have a 4wd H series on the chalk board as well as enough parts sourced to make it a reality.

What do you have planned?

If you can post long term and short term plans to help others here get an idea that would be . Also your thought on some of those really weird setups are welcome as well.

  • accord V6..or a B16A2..w/boost. i can get either one of them for under $1700 w/full swap materials & LSD tranny. (not including the mounts tho)

i was thinking about Type R for the longest time..now i think it's a waste of time and money. all the motors i've seen have been abused and i'm not into blowing my cash on some super expensive crapped out motor.

i'm looking to buy an S2000 soon so i'm saving my $ for that.

For my Shuttle RTi its going to stay DOHC ZC / RT4WD, but i am going to do a bit of work to the motor, i.e. supercharger and internals, plus all the other bits planned out in my write up..

For my Civic Pro i am going to turn it into a 'Targa' car, with either a '98 spec JDM B18C R or a JDM K20.... :D

I'll be doing some laps around Pukekohe, Manfield, Ruapuna and Hampton Downs (once it finally opens) with both of the cars.. don't try and pronounce the names, they are race tracks over here... hehe

    great

like I was saying I have the B series 4wd swap planned first then I'm goin to an H series 4wd afterward.

The problem is I want to do both at the same time. I currently have 2 wagons so it isn't a stretch but its nice to dream.

I am still building the parts supply neceesary to goto the H series but this will take a bit more time than the B series. In the meantime I plan on having fun with B swap.

for my 86 2wd i have it narrowed down to 2 swaps, depending on cash flow in the coming months. either way its a bit pricey because ill be switching it from carb to fi. itll either be an obd1 d15b sohc vtec swap, 130 hp with lsd, or a b16a1 obd0 swap with cable lsd. i really want the b16, but the original motor has 215k on it and it might need to be replaced soon. a reputable place here in AZ called akina gave me quotes for each swap, parts and install...

b16a1 lsd front clip, custom mounts/linkage and complete install including carb to fi $3300

d15b7 obd1 motor, lsd trans, ecu swap, complete install$2200

if my motor lasts long enough, its probably pretty obvious which would be my choice...
  • stock d15 all the way, man!

but seriously, i've got a line on a wrecked LS parts car. i'm a fan of the LS for a daily driver; torquey and cheap. plus, with the LS tranny, you still get good gas mileage. and it's faster than stock.

but if money was no object, K20. 220 hp, 180 lb-ft, six-speed. sounds about perfect to me.

Well Im going awd B-series, soon seeing as how the t-belt just broke in the car, but I have another thread on that

I do have a question for you arika. Where do you plan on getting a awd H-series tranny? I know they were available in the EDM/JDM Accord wagons and some sedans, but Ive never seen any of these in the States.

will the b16a1 engine fit w/ no modification in a 90 wagon? and will it work w the rt4wd system from the d16a6 engine?
  • JakerJaker familEE
B series swap info is exactly the same as other 88-91 Civics. There's tons of info everywhere on the internet about this. However, no, the B series motor will not fit the Wagovan without the use of some "swap" motor mounts (like Hasport, etc...), and some minor massaging of the Wagovan chassis, and no, the RT4WD transmission will not bolt up to the B series motor but the CRV transmission will. But then your motor mount kit will not fit the CRV transmission correctly.

I was in the middle of putting together my b18a when i lost my job so thats put on hold. If i find a decent paying job i'll prolly go k20 instead tho.

I have a crazy idea that i came up with when i was drunk on wendnesday night for if i ever win the lottery lol. I realize that this prolly isnt doable but its an idea. I was thinking a k20 spinning it 90 degrees, a custom drive shaft into a s2000 rear end and so on...... Yes i realize that would include a whole crap ton of custom work, parts and lots of cash money.
I havent looked for clearance and it prolly wouldnt fit but hey i can dream right? Rwd driffting wagon  :D lets hear how crazy i sound
  • evol911evol911 familEE
Why not just use the F20C motor from a S2000 and transmission. You would have to move the steering rack or place the motor lower so the transmission would clear it.

Oh and as for an awesome motor:

    DOHC ZC FTW
  • Your kidding, thats for sure : ) not ?

that would make a complete different car, with the skin of a Wagon ...

    I own two D16A6's
If someone can point me to a thread with a reliable turbo setup
not only the engine ' ey <-- !!

so sorry, no engineswap for me( not even a mini)
  • OGWAGN1OGWAGN1 Wagonist
Yeah i know that would be a completely different car. hey it would be sexy as hell to have a rwd wagon tho. remember im a dreamer
  • So it was you I met dreaming about this
no 200 hp limit without mod
    bad ass rock-o-solid suspension
    standard 225 tires

    What this? A HONDA CIVIC WAGON ???.... N i c e ... me take two, OG
can drive the other one

    but reality

i'll stick to the build up of D16's and everything that comes with it ...
  • OGWAGN1OGWAGN1 Wagonist
Hell yeah build me one too lol.

Ive been debating just throwing a d series in there with low boost. will any d series bolt right up to our stock mounts(91 fwd). My buddy has a d16 that hes looking to get rid of cheap to get it out of his garage. would this bolt up to my trans also? I would need a new harness and a new ecu also correct.

Only D-Series that won't fit are the DOHC D16A1's out of 87-89 Integra. The driver side motor mount is different.

I'm planning on going LS in my wagon. After a while I would boost it. If I modded another wagon I'd probably go SC with a D16. *shrug* Two swaps I'm interested in.
  • SC ... owhhh...so tempting...
I'll custom the hood for that with that nice hump/intake...
why, why you had to bring that up

spoiled my day man, and its raining too...
    you know me, no offense
  • Personally I will be going high compression d15. Mostly because the wagon is a daily driver and 4wd. I think it will surprise the hell out of most of the b-swaps I see running around and its not something that I see everyday (and its cheap  ).

    I'd love to do a f22 with bisi's f2d plate and have a 250hp all-motor 4wd beast. Maybe someday...
