same problem, 2 different dx's

i'm now curious about the dpfi system honda used on the dx's, i was working on a dx hatch at my buddies shop and it has the same problem my wagon had. chunks missing off the #2 exhaust valves with a blown head gasket. the hatch had 220k on the clock and my wagon had 240k, anyone else had this problem around the same time? just curious.

we all do it from time to time but you really have to learn how to drive a honda motor, they are built to make power at high rpms-hence lugging the motor does horrible things inside. first thing it does is wears the shit out of the upper rod bearings and on the other end the bottom halve of the crank bearings get the rest. lugging also can cause detination, and here the ladder starts to fall, detination can release carbon build up wich is caused from low octaine and mileage too dont get me wrong just happens alot less with premium gas (more manageible) belive it or not you dont save money from putting cheap gas in your ride. do a test put the crap in your car and see how far you can drive, then put the best in your car see how far you get. in normal driving of corse. you saved what up to 30 cents a gallon with putting the crap in but you get less miles, or you got 2-5 more miles per gallon and the good stuff. looks like you spent the same but your motor thanks you in the end. any way valves get hot they get old carbon builds on them also, have you ever counted how many times that valve opens and close, now make it eat carbon chunks, or advance it to much to form more heat (a valve is also a sorce of detinaton) and to much advance at high rpms you cant hear detination at all!! so in turn keep your motor tuned up use the right amount of advance and good gas with proper driving practice this most likely wont happen.
and just remember you dont know how that motor was treated before you got it. honda motors are amazing its crazy how those little cylinders can push hp numbers they can and take the abuse they do, but take a few of these motors apart and you will also see how fragile they are at the same time.
at the same time this is just my opinion based on my experiance 8)
