dpfi to mpfi plus vtec

OK the new update now includes vtec, sohc can use b16 ecu as well, custom chipping is a little better. d16y7/8 blocks have knock sensor on the block.
you will need a mpfi injector harness, extra ecu harness for the pins, resistor box, compleate manifold, mpfi ecu, and si or whatever motor your running distibutor.
i always start by making my sub harness, taking the si harness and compleately stipping all the old tape off of it, follow the wires as long as they go before cutting to give some slack for later. note do not cut off the plug for the resistor box. i go the extra mile and wash the harness with a good degreaser, dry well then tape it up tight. you untaped it so you would know the tape pattern honda used. use good tape i use 3M.
give about 3" at where you cut the harness leads, this is where you will be adapting your dpfi harness. injector wires yellow and red will be going to the ecu so add about 3' of wire to each of these, i try and match the colors to keep from mistake at the ecu. or use what you have and lable them the color/function. set the harness to the side for later, its time to get dirty now.
(note solder everything! nothing like changing the oil filter or somthing and pulling somthing apart!)
now take your manifold off.
disconnect the battery, take all the wiring off/hoses ect..lable as you go, drain the coolant.
to take the manifold off there is a pesky bracket to deal with so start with that first, get rid of that one it wont work with the new manifold! take the rest of the mating bolts to the head off, give it a push if it doesnt move your missing one dont force it! it should come with ease.
now you have a hole. at this point i do some cleaning, fill the intake holes with some rags and go at the engine bay back there also the motor. looks better and you will thank yourself when you work back there in the future and not get dirty.
now the wires.
the old injector wires are short i always unpin the connectors and solder off those. now get your nicely prepped mpfi harness out.
red injector wire will go to the blue #3 injector (new harness)
yellow injector wire will go to the brown #1 injector (new harness)
the 2 yellow/black lined wires twist together and solder a 2" yellow wire to this this goes to the resistor box plug, notice the 5 pins 4 of them went strait to the injectors one is left out, thats the one this wire will go to.
now for the other sensors, the will have to be longer now to reach the new set up. you labled them right?
ok i start with the tps before you cut take the 2 outside wires and swap sides. dpfi works backwards so dont forget this!!
make things as long as you need them, put the new manifold in and see how long you need them, simple as that. take it out make your changes.
remember solder everything, i cant stess this enough!!
all done? then go tape everything, i like to do it just like oem, tape then loom then tape. looks good and keeps water out.
distributer time.
personaly i like to do it the zc style way with the 3 plug
i swap one wire at a time from your old dist, plug to the new distributor you should have two left in the big round plug.
blue/green stripe
blue/yellow stripe
find a two pin connector from a obd0 junk car or at very least use some spade connectors, just do yourself a favor and dont hard wire these.
before you can start pinning what comes from the engine bay to the ecu harness you must repin 2wires,
C2 will have to be moved to B12
C1 will have to be moved to B10
blue/green stripe will be pinned at the C1 pin ecu harness
blue/yellow stripe will be pinned at the C2 pin ecu harness
and last the 2 left over injector wires
yellow injector #4 will go to A7 pin ecu harness
red injector #2 will go to A3 pin ecu harness
again these 2 wires you should make some kind of disconnect i prefer the small obd0 2 pin connectors, if you want to get fancy you could pin the big master connector in the engine bay but its up to you 8)
put the manifold back on, hook everything back up, dont forget the coolant!
now there is one thing about the disributor wires there are 2 white wires, one had red dots (long ago im shure) most likely they are gone now(red dots), if your car doesnt start just swap these 2 wires. it will start after that!
this can be done in about 2 hours looks and sounds more coplicated than it is, you will enjoy the extra power that comes from this convertion. even a d15 feels completly different. anyway injoy 8)
i will update this when i can so if anything is out of context i will fix it

And all and behold there was a 89 RT4wd Manual!!!! I would have Killed for IT, but i cant take it home. Junkyard rules sux
Anywho since it has a MPFI, i was thinking since it's from a civic wagon could i pull the ecu the whole harness, resistor, and Manifold then hook it up or will i still have to do the conversion?
correct me if I’m wrong but ill will need
1. MPFI manifold
2. ECu
3. wire harness
4. (Extra wire harness?)
5. Resistor
Umm anything else?
manifold complete, ecu, resistor box, engine harness athough you will only use the injection part, distributor, some extra wire just to lengthen two injectors and new two new wires coming out of the mpfi distibutor also some sensors will need to be lengthend, and opt for the throttle cable
since dpfi one is so long, it can be used but for some reason thottle sticks sometimes plus it looks way better.
use the dpfi harness and add to it, its less trouble that way.
