(coilover)spring rate question?

just got a used koni coilover. the spring rate on it way too stiff of me. Feel like I'm in a low rider :(
I did some research but don't get anywhere. Should spring rate be lower in the front? some web site recommend 270lb/350lb for street use.
what the different if the spring higher in the front? I know people do that for RWD car. but what about FWD car? should it be lower in the front?
And since I plan to swap the springs, anyone know the size of spring that i need, is it 2.25 or 2.50 :?:

    Why are u askin about spring sizes?You have the spring.You need to find out the current spring rate,then you have a reference.Basically
    front spring rate:
    Lower=more oversteer
    Higher=more understeer
    Please do a search.Type in ''coilover spring rate'' under forum,''Suspension, Braking & Wheels''.Your answer is there.

    thank Siwagon. I ask about the spring size because I'm gonna swap it to lower spring rate. Don't know what spring rate is it right now but it way too stiff for me. By the way is anyone know what is the stock spring rate on the 2wd wagon?
    thank
  • what springs are on there now?

    off the shelf Ground Controls (Eibach springs) come with higher rates in the front... something like 330/250

    is the shock for DA taller than shock for ef?
    where is the bump stop on the wagon? is it on the shock or car?
    I rise the high and it seem to ride smooth.

    The rear DA shocks are taller by quite a bit, the fronts are very similar sized.

    If you want the car to ride well, put the higher springrate in front.

    DA shx are taller than EF shx.DA shx are valved better & work great in STOCK height Wgn.
    :( The prob you'll have is reduced shx travel in a lowered Wgn.This could lead to bottoming or BLOWN shx.

    good to info for the offroad wagoneer 8) was looking for longer front shocks that will go an extra 2" if possible, rear crx shocks just fine, they will go like 13" from side rocker to the floor, its just the front.

    thank Siwagon, now i know why my ride is so ruff when i slam it.
    I got DA koni yellow on my wagon that why.

    Only the rear DA shocks are taller. The fronts are identicle. I wanted to double check that before I posted this so I went to a couple of different sites and found the part numbers for the 90-93 integra front struts are the same PN as the 89-91 civics. AWD being different of course.

    You're right about the part #'s,but the DA KONI YELare probably still longer than the OEM shx.

    :o Here's why.THe EF/DA KYB's are 1/2(12mm) taller than the EF KONI YEL,but shorter than the OEM DA.

    ^^^Crazy.

    All the ef/da KYB and Tokico struts I have personally compared to stock were the same lenght. Thats crazy if Koni makes them longer. That makes no sence to me at all.
