car don't want to start sometime.

I use wagon mainly on weekend.
car will start right up with no problem at first. The problem is that when i try to start it again after I turn the car off. not thing happen( not turn, crank whatever it call) but if i move my car little bit, it start right up.
If I stall my car (new to stick shift) it have a hard time try to start again. (sometime crank sometime not) but even surly it will start.
Could it be that I need a new starter? or is it something else?
I just don't want to run out and get a new stater if that not the problem.

  • id try some simple stuff first, like the clutch peddle safety switch, look under the dash at the clutch peddle follow it up to the top u will see a little switch unplug it take the wire and loop it with a paperclip or wire then try it these dont last after 100000 miles just think how many times in the cars liftime this peddle has been pushed. i eliminate it compleatly, i dont think 88's even had them just dont forget to leave it out of gear when you start the car and always make it a habit to push the clutch in if you start the car. maybie it is the starter, also easy to test take the 2 bolts out and bench test it, look at the teeth on the pinion gear for wear, its rare for a honda to get the dsm disease but it can happen, i get eclipse's to work on all the time with this ploblem i know to roll the car back a little and boom it starts right up! its the gear getting stuck in the flywheel, or its so worn the teeth wont line up properly and this goes for both the starter and the flywheel, dsm's do it mainly from crank walk, and us honda guys its from previous owners starting the car when its already on!

dsm=why walk the dog when you can walk your crank!
  • Put a hammer in your car and when the car won't start try tapping the starter and see if it will start up. I had to do this on a couple of my cars when the starter started to get worn out.

It could be quite a few other things but if it isn't cranking then it could be your starter.
