  • Borla muffler in the mid section, then run regular piping out to the rear with an angle cut.

    Fart cannons are for ricers.

Borlas are the best sounding mufflers ever. I don't care how good ya'll think your ehaust sounds, borla is the best, period.

well i would like to see still see pics to get an idea.

i think mine looks good. its no fart cannon, but it definitely doesnt look stock. it sounds pretty decent, but im sure there are some that sound better. i have a pic of it in my build thread. i got a deal on mine though, and couldnt afford a borla or i might have gone the other way :D
  • I'm partial to the HKS muffler on my wagon. It looks very low key - amost OE, but has the dual tips with the little holes around them.

I haven't taken any muffler-specific shots, but those show it pretty well. I think the beauty of it is that it's hard to see and doesn't stick out. It's actually part of a complete HKS cat-back system for the CR-X, but was modified to fit the wagon.

As far as sound goes I love it. Deep at idle, but not loud at all. Never gets raspy even in higher rpm - IMO it's the perfect exhaust for a DD wagon.

i would say anything that looks nearly stock, like the HKS (super sexy) or a custom made one thats routed stock.

i have a Borla muffler as well and it sounds pretty damn nice. mellow, quiet, kinda like a stock BMW.

here is a POS video i made of it this spring if you care to see/hear

  • You got the PROXS muffler. I got the regular borla. Mine is louder than yours.. It ia real deep and it's fire..

Sounds like a high end sports car.

I love the HKS dual tip, but if I remember reading right, isnt that a pretty rare piece?

    i dont think so...

i bought one for a friend of mine from robearracing.com or something like that. but thats for the whole system, which will need to be slightly modified.

maybe finding just the axle back would be hard to find..

My fav too, but Ive never been able to locate one. I was also told that the piping diameter was only 2" and not 2.25.

One of the guys at g2ic was gonna sell me his tips from his HKS exhaust on his da as the rest of it was rusted so badly, but the tips ended up being completly waisted too.

I tried to order a Borla muffler for my last exhaust, but it was twice as much as much as a Magnaflow the same size AND was two weeks out. Like stated before, Im way to impatient to wait for crap like that.
  • stephenstephen Senior Wagonist
my magnaflow is actually half of a dual exhaust kit for 8 cylinder engines. i bought it thinking it would have a deeper tone. it gets a little loud when i stomp it and at around 75-80 mph it is a little loud but not too bad. i LOVE the way it sounds at around town speeds.....

I think it's funny that there's a moment in your vid where that other car comes up and everybody's just still, then they slink by and then VRROOOMM

How much did that cost?? Think it would clear the 4wd do-hickys??
  • adamEFwagonadamEFwagon Senior Wagonist
muffler was $315 from a local shop, then to have them make the piping and weld it all up to the cat and header was like $475. damn costly but i dont really care, its just money lol. i think it would prolly clear the 4wd stuff since it is under the rear cross member, but im not too sure about the drive-shaft.

If u go to the vibrant performance website they also have it in stainless.
  • i like the n1 style myself, and since i did my own welding i made the piping no lower than the factory style just on the opposing side, also chosen to clear awd system (one day crv shiz)

5zigen from a 99 silvia using 2 resinators this is not the super baby rattler sound. just real deep, and i found a silencer the tunable type wich makes it real quiet!

Thrush 2" turbo from Advance :P about $75 for the parts, welded it up myself. Chose the smallest muffler to make room for the receiver hitch (which I haven't finished yet  )

Do you have a sound clip of the muffler? I bought the same one a while back but just haven't gotten around to installing and was curious as to how it sounds.
  • NJCIVICWAGON1NJCIVICWAGON1 Council Member
I dont have a sound clip but Im sure they have one on youtube somewhere.
  • stephenstephen Senior Wagonist
mine goes over the LCA and basically mirrors the factory install path

nice, do you have the link and also do you have pics of how the pipe runs from the front to the back?

was it totally custom for the pipes or was there little modding need to keep it on the driver side?
  • NJCIVICWAGON1NJCIVICWAGON1 Council Member
I posted the link in my 3rd post....

    http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1743653

I ran the exhaust very simple. Straight from the cat back around the gas tank and straight back thru the LCA like stephen did. My wagon is fwd so I dont have the 4wd driveshaft in the way.

Wen I get the chance I'll post a pic.
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
the vibrant looks like it would be loud. how loud is it compared to the stock muffler? how many db's would you say?

i like how the muffler looks hidden too. if you get a chance to have it on a lift. please take pics so i can see if my 4wd wagon can get it close to that fitment.

i just checked out the vibrant site.
do you think the dual tip would fit right under the bumper?
