We did this to my gf's 86 hatch. Worked like a charm. Fired right up and only took about an hour to get running perfectly. Also went with a manual choke to keep things simpler and more problem free. Check out redpepperracing.com. There are a few good threads explaining how simple it is to do.

  • I was pretty sure that all the carburated 84-87 Civics had a manual choke from the factory. I know the 8-9 that I owned over the years did.

Maybe it's a canada thing? None of the ones from the states I've seen came with that. They're all electric choke.

i am about to swap in a 32/36 ( kit #726) into my 86 wagon, just waiting for it to stop raining and be sunny. i am going to do a write up with pics for my build thread, trying to figure out some small things like the linkage. im using the one from the old carb. i have had nothing but amazing support from the folks over at redline, they really do stand behind their kits and have quickly answered any question i had about the kit even before i bought one. hopefully i'll have it on there in the coming week.
