Sound Proofing your wagon.

Im in the process of my wagon project. Im still in the research stage of my project. Some how i ran into this sound proofing adhesive i was just wondering if anyone tried it ? I just checked this is the first time Noxudol was ever mentioned on the forum (I took the noxudol's virginity on the forum). I might try it when i put in new carpeting and save some for my engine bay. after watching this video i was very impressed:http://www.noxudolusa.com/sound_damping_products/hear_the_difference.html

  • Sorry, tried no, but i know this from experience ...
    air+vibration=sound(wave)

Most of us know the difference between sound
and vibration, so the issue is transmission ...

how do we stop a soundwave
we use digital feedback to generate a counterwave

    how do we counteract vibration
we isolate the source to prevent transmission

    how do we reduce vibration
    balancing out aka callibrate

to block sound you need a density, if you apply that stuff,
to me, it means you do need a lot of it to make it work
    - how much does it weigh per sq/m-inch ...
    - how much does it cost per sq/m-inch ...

almost 100dB (96) is equivalent standing very close to a jet-engine
... that is what you hear and your body experiences
    the dB-scale is proportional, so from 96 to '60' does'nt mean 30-40%

but, it has got other nice features, insulation, easy to apply and
with all that jazz, if the equations are right, i say go for it

I was wondering if Great Stuff foam would work and if anyone has tried it. I use it on home door and window instillations and it lives up to it's name.

Edit- So Great Stuff is a bad idea. It may expand too much
  • Great Stuff is a bad idea for sound deadening. The expansion ratios are so incredibly high. Like One can can fill nearly 10cubic feet or something ridiculous like that. Imagine what one second of spraying will do to your car. I would not use household products on automotive. Search Ebay for sound deadening or dynamat. There are plenty of good alternatives without paying the cost.

Also expandable foam holds water so it will rust sooner.

Did you take any pics or post a guide?

I'm thinking of sticking a dampening mat in when I replace my dying carpet.
