Brake upgrade question

I tried to piece together the info i need from other posts but couldnt, so here goes:

My wagon has a d16y7 from a '99 civic and at the same time i did the engine i swapped the axles to newer civic axles as well.

I want to swap the front brakes, so i was wondering - what would be different from mine to an all stock wagon? i have access to all the brake bits from a 97 ( i think) civic EX except for the MC and wanted to know if this would work and what other pieces i might need.

Edit: also, how much of a difference have you guys noticed when just upgrading the MC?

thanks in advance.

The upgrade you refer to would be like comparing a CRX & a CRX Si.
  • I see people going to great pains to swap the brakes with this model or that...I think its a waste of time.

My preferred brake setup for Civics/CRXs:
New reman'd calipers...easier and quicker to replace than rebuild. Marginal cost difference.
New rotors...just get the brembo blanks. Get them from a local auto store and you can usually score a lifetime warranty. Which you should use.
New pads...I like the Porterfield R4-S. Kevlar based, long lasting, high performance, minimal dust. Expensive, but you have to pay to play. I don't know if Porterfield makes those for the wagon...but if you send them them some used pads, they'll put any compound on the old backing plates.
Stainless steel braided lines...pretty much self explanatory.
1989 Accord LXi master cylinder...15/16" and it bolts right in.
