Will a 90 auto axle work with my 88 manual car? They're wagon specific if it matters. Thanks guys. :D

I know for a fact that they fit in the trans, am pretty sure that the outside end is the same, that just leaves length...

Bring your car over, we'll take out the old one and compare.

doesnt matter if its wagon specific...

also dont think it mattersif its AT or MT

dunno about the 88's though, i heard they are different, different # of splines or something.

Advanced Auto accidentally gave me a four speed axle and it was too short. So I'm just trying to double check.

    :o They gave u a HF axle.

All 2WD Wgn use the same axles. It's also the same axle used in all CRX DXs.

Sorta right... I had a HF tranny in my wag with the same axles I'm using with the EX sedan box I've got now, so I don't think THAT'S different.

I did see a different part# for 4 spd axles, though. Seems like I remember a different spline count...? I guess that means SiWagon's correct, there were no 4spd wags, just hatches, no?

Anywho... I've got axles, you need axles, the price is right. :P

Just a little side info, I wanted to switch axles of a 91 CRX D16Z5 engine with axles of a D16A9 (engine's are 99% the same). The outside end didn't match, the D16A9 were about 1mm bigger in diameter. So we had to swap out the end links of both axles.

Dunno if this will occur withe CRX axles on the Wagon.

in the US that wont occur, mainly because we didnt get the D16Z5 or D16A8/9

we only got the SOHC D15B2 and D16A6

Another one. This can also be applied to the RT, correct?

    just to clarify.....

88's wont fit 89-91 because they have a different spline count. Honda seems to tend to keep increasing it by one or so every little while!

    1988 Axle spline count: 25
    1989-1991 Axle spline count: 26

    Wrong.
25 is inboard spline count for all Wgn.
    26 is outboard .
    27 is 4WD inboard.

+1. I did some research before buying my replacement axles, and 4wd is, indeed, 27 splines. No separate listings for manual or auto transmissions, so the axles will work with both, but they are NOT interchangable with 2wd transmissions. The 2wd models are basically a Civic DX drivetrain.
