My '90 wagon came with missing rear seat headrests. I kept looking for some to match the original interior, but without much luck. So I decided to try doing the upholstery myself. But first I had to find some headrests. Finally I was able to get the front seat headrests from the only salvage wagon I could find locally. Then I looked for a fabric to match as much as possible the original.
My sister just gave me a crash course in the use of the sewing machine, and I am ready to get to work on it today. Wish me luck. Will post pics when done.
Yesterday I whacked the rear springs to even out the height. I had to make 8 cuts on each side while the springs were still on the car because the lower strut bolt was seized to the LCA.
Busy day...after 18k miles of procrastination, I did:
Timing belt
tensioner pulley
water pump/coolant
front crank seal
cam seal
valve cover gskt/grommets
Alt. belt / PS belt
front motor mount
valve adjustment
cap/rotor/wires
distributor O-ring
advanced timing to 20*
...I think thats all...
oh, gave her a thorough exterior wash, interior will happen tomorrow. She's all shiny and healthy now!
I thought it ran well before the work, but she's super smooth now! I'm a Toyota tech by trade, I love having access to the shop and my tools on the weekend, not to mention the parts discount :X
Chased down the wire I neglected to connect when assembling the stereo harness. Installed the snow tires on those freshly painted (silver) Nissan rims. Looks much better than with the old, rusty rims, but it still needs a whole body paint. That will have to wait 'til spring.
Well today I put my winter tires back on. It's going to cool down to normal starting this afternoon. Highs 35-40 for the next few days with a little snow.
I also changed the oil, and did some of the patches on the front seat. The hugh hole on the left side bolster requires some foam to fill it in right, so I need to go to the upholstry shop before I can tackle that.
Some crackhead threw a frappuccino bottle through my rear windsheild while aiming at another crackhead in front of my car. We had just parked and were about to fire up a doobie. Good thing no-one was hurt by the shattering glass. We chased down the crackhead while on the cell phone with the police, who didn't want to take him to jail. They finally took him after some coercion. Replacing the rear windshield tomorrow. I guess I was lucky to find one, apparently honda doesn't make them anymore.
Finished up the wiring harness and got some other needed parts for it. Throttle cable, main relay and injector clips. Oh yeah and got my battery recharged so once everything is in, it should fire right up.
fixed some body work
put in new oem lower strut bushings only to find out the others are blown also
slowly figuring out the kid i got it from has a screw loose when it comes to cars
