My replacement ham radio arrived yesterday - a Kenwood TM-271A. Installation should be easy since I already wired the car for my IC-2100H that died - I'll just reuse the existing power and antenna wiring. Should get it in the car this weekend I think - then I'll get a chance to learn to use it before supporting the New England Forest Rally next month.
So today even though it rained balls in Barre. I put on new battery terminals. Fixed my auto seatbels. Back to blacked the trim. Got the water out of my rear corner lights then appoxieeed.
Finally got it back on the road this week with a new to me LCA arm and minus the driveshaft. No more rear vibrations! Also gave her a ride on the back of a flatbed towtruck due to a FUBAR'd alternator (battery light came on, went off came on and stayed on, lights dimmed, tach went, etc). She is now sitting in the driveway again, this time waiting on a new alternator or perhaps a rebuild of the crapped out one.
I custom installed my EG cupholders into a centre console I found at the wrecking yard:
I have to paint the console grey to match now... I found out there are minor differences in the 88-89 consoles and the 90-91 models...
I also picked up a complete MPFI swap and an Si steering wheel:
The cupholders work well. They can be a little tight depending on the cup size, but better than what I had which was nothing. The fit is actually pretty good and the install was fairly clean considering there wasn't much room to work with. They don't look exactly like in my pic as I had to tweak it a little. They look close to it, just more flush with the console. If someone wants to try it, don't follow my screw holes. I had to lower it more.
All that's needed are four L brackets and self tapping screws...
Changed the front left and right upper control arms and front left and right tie-rod ends. Got a front wheel alingment after and now it drives smooooooth.
yanked a bunch of stuff off my old a6, washed and painted a few items, then slapped them on the zc that is about to go into the wago... Finally making some progress
I bought this a little while ago. Haven't done anything with it. I picked it up on impulse cause it was cheap.
It's a turbo from a 626/MX6/Probe with a custom D-series manifold and downpipe. I have some DSM parts to throw into the mix, but I'm having second thoughts...
Took off all the trim in preparation for painting. Used CP-7 on the passenger front window regulator; we'll see how that goes (window gasket didn't work at all; 90-second epoxy worked for one cycle).
When I took the bottom edge trim off the driver's side, like unto a pound of dirt fell out of the front corner. Bleah!
Today I hope to vacuum all the doors out, replace the interior panels, and take off the bumper covers. Now I have to go research how it's done.
Installed the cup holder mod as seen on HCW.com (the "walmart" syle)... Got mine from Canadian Tire for about $10, used an Olfa knife and a straight edge to cut out the floor of the cassete storage area to slip over the shifter... Also cut away some material from the rear of the tray for more clearance of the e-brake button / my fat thumb ... Mine's not fastened down yet (don't wanna ruin a console) but am considering the nylon strap "tie down" style...
Many many thanks for the idea! Cupholders are crucial! Next I want the Odessy (sp?) under seat storage bin
i put in new energy suspension bushings in the front LCAs, i did this like 2 weeks ago and didn't post it. i still have the rest of the master kit to put in though. i felt a huge difference after installing them. i cant wait to get the rest of the kit in incl. trailing arm bushings.
removed rust from window pillars and re-painted them flat black, painted all wiper arms flat black, replaced 2 door moldings, replaced dome light housing, installed an arm rest from and 89 accord, put some steelies on it, fixed a crack in the windsheild, cleaned half of the interior, installed factory radio from a 94 integra
Finally got that accursed window to stay in the regulator clips. Window sealing gasket didn't do it. 90-second epoxy worked for one crank, even though I let it cure for 24 hours. Plain old PC-7 worked. It's ugly, but nobody's ever going to see that part of the window anyway.
Over the Labor Day weekend, I painted up the bumpers and some of the trim. Still haven't got everything installed, but at least the lights and mirrors are reattached (for legal purposes), and the big hatch cover is on (for rain protection).
I just need another can of SEM 39293 to finish up the trim.
today i went on a 6 hour road trip and a two hour junk yard adventure. got all new seats (95 gsr cloth driver others are grey wagons) 2wd rear trailing arms for the 4wd to 2wd conversion, 88 integra front lip, also got a suspension tech. front sway bar. now just need the motivation to put it all on
Gave Bluebell a wash yesterday ... first time I've ever washed her with a bucket and mitt, since we moved out of our apt a few months ago and now have genuine driveway space ... she's driveable again (I'll post about that shortly) so I thought she ought to look more road-worthy. I'm not posting any pictures till the rear hatch is fixed, though.
