ZC valve clearance

I tried to search this on the site but had no luck. I would like to know what the (cold)recomended tolerance is supposed to be for my ZC DOHC cam to follower clearance. I set them at .005" cold. My manual for SOHC suggest .007 to .011, but does not cover the DOHC

  • I would check what the valve clearences are for the D16A1 out of a 86(?)-89(?) Integra. Not sure on the years but whichever Integ that uses the D16A1.(Its the years that use the flip-up headlights)
  • I looked up specs for an 89 Integra on All-Data:

    Intake - .0051-.0067 inches

    Exhaust - .0059-.0075 inches

Sorry I'm a conversion/math retard, or else I'd tell you what it translates into mm.
  • If you are are converting Inches to Millimeters:

    (Inches) x 25.4= (Millimeters)

If you are converting Milllimeters to Inches:

    (Millimeters) x .03937= (Inches)
  • I'm working with inches anyway so thanks. It looks like I was close enough with .005". I Drove it to work today with new head gasket & valve adjustment for the first time. Man she's never been so smooth! My Idle picked up about 200 rpm. I guess I had gotten used to the poor idle before. Had very loose valve clearance before also. Thanks for the input guys! :D
  • When you did your valve clearences, did you just use feeler gages??
  • Yes I used feeler guages with no heat in the motor(cold).
