Cooling Issues!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!

Going down the interstate my car starts running hot. (Not in the red, I see it before then) The temp guage will go a little under 3/4 way up and slowly fall back down. Then go back up, and then down etc..

If I clutch it and let off the gas, it will drop back down to normal, then when I give it gas it goes back hot..

I can turn the heater on and the temp will go down to normal but rise a very small amount when I gas on it.

WTF?

New Radiator Hoses
New thermostat (checked it by boiling water)
New radiator cap
Fans work correctly
Water pump working correctly.

Could it be in my radiator or my guage? I am throwing no CELs btw.

Note:
I suppose the water pump works correctly, I changed the thermostat and then let it run till all the bubbles came out, then out of nowhere antifreeze started shooting out the radiator cap hole like a volcano.. I suppose this was the water pump running/the thermostat opening.

So what do I go to check from here?

I had a temp sensor go out that did shit like that. Might give it a try. They are cheap. Located under the dist. Its the single wire plug.

That or make sure thiers no air in the cooling system. My D-wagon has a bleeder valve on the upper rad hose housing on the head.
  • Yeah my B doesn't have that... I just leave the cap off till there or no bubbles coming out.. The fans are working so I wouldn't think that it is the coolant temp sensor..
  • I'd vote for the coolant sensor too. In my hatch, the needle used to drop slowly as the rpms rose and peg cold at 5-6k rpm. It only happened at WOT and was fixed when I replaced the sensor.
  • Well I looked at the sensor and it had bare wires showing, I pulled on the wire a bit and it snapped in half.. So I ran new wire to it but I believe it is still doing it.. I wonder if the D and B sensors are the same? I might look into it today.

temp sensor gauge should be the same even the fan switch in the back is the same.
  • Got the sensor changed.. It does it just a little bit now but nothing like it was.. Is it possible that the one of out the D-series is bad as well?
  • Kahuna,I just had the same problem. When It would get just a little low on coolant it would do the same thing . After chasing it for a while & beating on it the real problem showed its ugly head. I had no oil / water mix or any thing, but in the end It was bubbling out of the overflow tank with every stroke of the piston. My ZC was pushing compression past the head gasket into the coolant jacket around the cylinedrs. Once I pulled the head it was evident that it was swaping between the cylinders. That's what I get for using a cheap head gasket (Victor Reinz) Don' use those. I am going back with it now with all honda stuff. Hope this isn't your prob. But maybe some help.
