I agree. The oil gets dirty so fast even in "good" higher mileage motors that you shouldn't run any more than 4-5k miles per change. If you're going to change every 4500 then you probably won't be able to justify paying double for synthetic when you only gain 50% extended life.
I don't put a lot of miles on the car - my daily commute is <2miles and so it comes down to time. Been using dino oil and change every 6 months, but now I am thinking that is too long..my mileage is poor (19 +/- mpg).... might continue with the dino oil and change more often.
