help me decide on which coilovers..

so after reading the sticky up top over and over and doing some more searching i have found that i want to use the integra DA coilovers for my wagon.
since the wagon is a bit heavier then any other civic i thought the bit more beefier integra DA suspension should be good.
i plan on using the wagon as a daily driver and occasionally haul some heavier equipment around town.
im doing this mostly to lower it down.
no drag racing or tracking will be done.

i believe that the ones i need for my 91 wagon are DA integra 90-93 fitment. please verify me.

keeping pricing out of the equation.
just use anything else as a factor for convincing me why i should use that model or brand.
example; fitment, construction quality, ride quality, warrenty, history with good or bad experiences with other owners, adjustable or not, etc...

i was thinking of these setup.

1. 90-93 Acura Integra D2 Racing RS 36 Way Damper/Rebound Adjustable Coilover System

2. 90-93 Acura Integra Ksport Kontrol Pro Damper Coilover System

will they fit w/ no mods? because im planning to do the same lower but not screwing the ride.. and also i might take mine to the track once in a blue moon though? is yours rt4wd or 2wd?

not sure if you have read through this link yet but it will help you out a bit.
    http://hondacivicwagon.yuku.com/forum/viewtopic/id/537

after i read that link, i assume there is no other mods needed to make the DA coilovers to work on the wagons. again if someone with experience knows for sure just chime in.
    mine is 4wd.

the ride on this car is kinda important as i dont want to be ridding like i am racing. i just want to look low.

arent the rears different on the awd wagons?
anyways, i got some PIC's and they are super stiff, i hauled myself and 3 others around with them set all the way to stiff and my car hardly even lowered with everyone in it. the ride quality is pretty damn good, just a lot stiffer. EX. you can feel everything on the road.

I took the Progress struts from my DA and bolted right up to the awd wagon with no issues. Progress uses shortened bodies though. I assume the ones you are looking at have shortened bodies too. If they dont Id be surprised.
  • astutoastuto Wagonist
so basically for a rt4wd u can buy the da integra 90-93 full suspension and it will fit w/ no problem? cool... will this affect even if you upgrade the brake system from the EX?
  • shenrieshenrie Council Member
Not all DA suspensions will be ideal. If its a shortened strut body, it prolly wont be an issue, but if they are stock sized struts, I wouldnt want them on my car if I was trying to lower it.

The brakes you have on the car shouldnt make a difference.
  • astutoastuto Wagonist
so what else should i get besides the setup up there in order to lower and still have a nice ride in the road. thanks man

The main thing you want is softer spring rates. Thats what amkes so many of the ebay coilovers worthless. They come with racing spring rates. I have 450 fronts and 350 rears and that seems to work pretty good. The 250's I have in back of one of my cars is a little too soft when I have it loaded up. The tires start rubbing with larger/heavier loads.

I hear good things about the k-sports, but no personal experience. Ive had good luck with Teins, but they are spendy. Tein doenst have a wagon specific setup, but I talked to numorous people there and at SEMA about a custom setup and all they wanted from me was corner weights and pix of the suspension and they said they would get me hooked up. Who knows now though. Im no longer affiliated with any speed shops.

once in a blue moon i take stuff and they are not even heavy... the only thing heavy would be my college books and amp thats it and just take probably like one extra person on my car... and i also want to take my car to the track once at least and see how it feels... i hope the k sports will bolt in...

so i just figured out my spring rates from kg. to lbs.
    you divide by .0179

so my fronts are 559lbs. and rears are 782lbs.

also if you go from lbs to kg, you just multiply by .0179

Something is not jiving with those numbers. If your spring rates are that high your car would ride terrible. It dont think the car weighs enough to compress spring rates that high.

Also, the higher spring rates are generally in front. The only ones who use stiffer springs in back are track/autox cars. I tried it one. Handled great, on the daily, not so much. Rough rider from hell.

i maybe getting the d2 coilovers. the price i got for them is pretty unreal.
450.00 for a brand new set of d2 full coilovers.

i am helping another member get them as well.
if anyone else wants a d2 coilover let me know.
i can help you out too.

i may be getting the EF fitment and he maybe getting the EF fitment. i can get either the DA fitment or the EF fitment. the price is the same for either one.
  • im rolling skunk2 pro s, and i love them they ride like a cadillac and you can go so low! if my wagon wasn't 4wd i would be pushing pebbeles grinding mud flaps and all that good stuff
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
yeah skunk2 sounds good but the price jumps up a lot more.

i guess for the price i dont mind giving the d2 a try.

FYI the D2 and Ksport are the same just a different colour.

I would go Skunk2, are you are able to get Daiyama? They slightly cheaper than D2/Ksport over here ($900 as opposed to $1100)
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
no i dont have the ability to get the other brand,

but i can get the d2 for 450.00.

another 100.00 will get you some s2's... not that much more.
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
pretty tight on cash right now. i am already barely able to pay for these. hell if i can save anothe 50.00 i would take it.

also i think s2 is probably the lowest model as well.

with the d2 i get a higher model with a bit more options on it.
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
If you get the D2 dont set the damper on the softest setting (even though you can hardly feel any difference) this causes the shocks to leak
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
great news i am able to get the skunk2 pro s coilovers.

i am very curious which version i should get?
the ones for the DA or the EF?
anyone with experience with either versions?
  • TIMELESSWHITETIMELESSWHITE Senior Wagonist
Between the two, they should be almost identical if I'm not mistaken.
  • sanjiyan69sanjiyan69 New Wagonist
let me know what you end up getting. I may be in the market for some coilovers as well.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert

yo 949, how much can you hook up the Skunk2 Pro S's for? Just wanted to clarify, I believe you told toytinker 6 BiLLz?
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
hey timeless i pm you already. didnt get a reply yet. did you want the coilovers? tinker said you and him wanted one.

    pm me your number.
  • will a da setup fit 2wd also with no/mods
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
i believe it will. there is a huge thread on top about it.

but with coilovers the only thing youll need to figure out for yourself, wether you want stiffer or softer rates.

you and toy tinker took too long to reply back to me if you wanted the stuff, as of yesterday the prices went up on the skunk2 line.
  • sanjiyan69sanjiyan69 New Wagonist
how much did the price go up?
  • sanjiyan69sanjiyan69 New Wagonist
I currently have tokico illumina with weapon R sleeve coilovers...and I have a 5 finger width rear wheel gap! I have 16" konigs with 195/45 tires...not sure what to do at this moment. I'm thinking about getting some coilovers so I can lower this thing... /threadjack.
