Racing Seats/ Universal Sliders

I looked this up on the search but couldn't really get a straight answer (unless I'm not seeing straight either)

Will the universal sliders that come with racing seats fit the wagon? Or are there some specific brackets available? I just wanted to make sure, since when I tinker with the wagon everything seems to want to fight me. Oh and it's an 89.

  • I messaged civicpro.com about it and they said that these would work (for sparco at least)

I'm just worried that they might be just trying to make a sale though, thoughts?

Well the sliders will work fine, but they wont attach the seat to the vehicle. I found when working at a speedshop that seating is a pain in the ass to find parts for. Sliders and bracketery are different things. So you have to get two that will function together and attach to the car and seat properly. Make sure you do your homnework before you purchase any one part. If there was a way for me to tell you what will work with what I would, but theres no way for me to do that. Sorry man.
  • Thanks, good thing I didn't actually buy anything yet. I'm a ways off before actually getting seats so I'll have time to research.

i think you have to customize the bracket. thats what people told me because im planning to install racing seats on my wagon too

Theres a company that offers setups for all cars. For the life of me though, I cant remember the name of the place. I know his name is Rod and its in So Cal. Ill see if I can find the info. Hes very helpfull when trying this stuff out. I had a lot of guys come in with ebay seats and no rail/sliders, he was able to get all of them to work.
  • Have any luck with finding the company?

I saw that Corbeau sells wagon seat brackets, but only for 80-83 and 84-86 wagons! I mean.. why not just make the some for the rest of the model years?

Just bought a seat of corbeaus and it appears I'll have some work cut out for me if I plan to adapt them to the stock sliders...any one got new insight? I'm trying to run automatic seat belts on mine..

I'm running auto seat belts on my Recaros. I used the Recaro sliders and cut the bottom mounting tabs. I then welded new tabs to make them fit the Wagon mounting points. It's actually pretty simple if you have a welder. The hardest part is lining everything up straight. As for the Auto Seatelts, I copied the OEM setup with an re-used one of the tabs on the Recaro rails and modified it by adding on hole for the extra bolt.

I'm thinking of reusing stock sliders and weld a brackets I'll try to do a write up since there's no real good write ups on the matter
