Incar hillclimb footage.

This is from thhe event I put on here called the Freezeout Hillclimb. This was the 42nd consecutive running of the hill. I had planned on running the wagon in STS but was so busy making sure all went as planned that I didnt even sort my own car prior to the event. Luckily a good friend of mine loaned me his 07 Evo MR. I ran my fastest time ever up the hill. Ive been running this hill for almost 10 years now. Kinda crazy I went the fastest in a bone stock car, lol.

Anyway, finally got some footage removed from my buddies camera and thought Id share. I have a few more I will post, but his shitty computer will only let him copy one at a time. More to follow. Sorry for the commentary, I talk to myself when I race...wether theres a camera in the car or not, lol. I know, Im an idiot. Questions/comments welcomed.

I about lost it on this run, Im sure you can tell where. A perfect example of never lift. If I would have lifted in this situation, Id own a fuct up Evo 9.

that look like a lot of fun. i wish we had something like that in utah. lots of greats canyons here. so was this a part of a scca event?

Late apexs are key up on that road, and its hard to do at the higher speeds. Except for a few pushes out, Id run those lines everytime if I had my way. Easy to say, hard to do.

Not an SCCA event. Its a NHA (Northwest Hillclimb Association) event. We use a lot of the same classing as the SCCA with a few addiational classes.

They have been trying to get an event going in the Utah area for a while now. The guy doing the footworks name is Max Dufford. He drives a purple E36 M and is a fantastic driver and a really nice guy. Im sure you can find him at any open track day at Miller. Hes a track whore.

Not sure where hes at with the whole thing, but the canyon roads are popular ones and blocking off traffic would be a total hassel. It needs to be a road a little less traveled, like one of the roads that only access a ski resort. Its just hard to get the resorts to jump on board.

    Awesome!

We have a few hillclimbs here with the Sports Car Club of NH. I've never done one but it looks fun. Also don't have an SA rated helmet, which they require (99% of my time in a helmet is on a motorcycle, so I have an M helmet). I'd be hesitant to do it in a car I need to get me to work the following day - real roads, real hazards if I screw up.

Yeah, it's all about late apexes in rally. On a road course, you repeat the same turns over and over and over and over, so you can predict them quite well. In rally, you're often taking the turns at full speed for the first time, and a late apex provides a greater margin for error. A hillclimb runs a lot like a rally special stage, so the same thing applies.
  • you guys are lucky. all we have is the scca events. in the winter though the scca holds ice racing

We are very lucky we have 2 hillclimbs within 30 minutes of my front door. The autox's are fun, but the hillclimbs are badass. I long for a track day bigtime, but the closest one is in Utah roughly 5 hours away. Im not into trailoring my car, and track days are very hard on cars if youve never done one. You quickly realize that your in a street car and not a racecar.

Ice racing sounds like a lot of fun, and be all over it if it happened in this area, but really dont get the snowfall here to support a ice series. Shit we dont even have enough people here to get rally racing going. Id build a car for that if thier was enough intrest here.
