D16W7 engine

ok i found that this engine is pulling 160 HP. here is the info:
D16W7

* Vtec-E
* Found in:
o 2005-2007 Honda Civic Vti-L/ Vti (Singapore)
+ Displacement:1590 cm3
+ Compression : 10.9:1
+ Power : (*160) hp (130 kW) @ 7800 rpm & 108 ft·lbf @ 7900 rpm
+ Valvetrain : SOHC
+ Redline 8600RPM
+ Limit 8900RPM
+ Fuel Control : OBD-1 MPFI
+ ECU Code: PM12

my question is if this engine can work w/ our 4wd system and since is a d16 engine does the mounts have to be modify in order to make this engine fit?

    I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure all d-series motors will go into our wagons 4wd or not. D16A1's from early model Integra's are the only ones that have a tricky motor mount on the driver side. I think its just a matter of using your stock flywheel, T.O. Bearing, and clutch. Oh and you would have to wire your car OBD1 or use your stock harness/distributor/injectors with vtec wired in. And don't do what I've seen some dummys do and wire your vtec to a switch or to your shiftlight.

    the horsepower isn't worth it without the tq.

    That torque peak is pretty damned high as well. Usually have the peak at 6,000 or so. 7,900 means you'll be revving the piss out of it to get any get up and go.

    kinda like a b16 huh

    it really depends on your budget the zc swap would be more worth it, imo.

    yeah dohc zc will be much worth it... and besides i cant find one of those d16w7 for sale and i just wanted to know if they will bolt in like any other d16 since this was built for a different chassis.

    This brings up an interesting subject.
    perplexed

    I want optimal HP (&torque) while retaining my AWESOME fuel economy.

    I currently have a ZC/d16 SOHC with V-tec,

    it has a DX tranny (synchros going out slightly, maybe), and I LOVE the gearing in it. I have no doubts this tranny can do 140 +, no argument.

    catback, resignator, glass pack, high flow cat
    Adjustable CAM
    Apexi Vafc
    cold air intake

    Anyways, removing weight is an option, but it already has no PS, (duh) and all AC components removed. Spare and jack are temp solutions. If I have 2 ppl in the car m limited to what I can do with weight, so moving on.

    What can I do to make this puppy fast in the moment and economic at the pump?

    in the rex or the wagon?

    remove the back seats and the trunk carpet, spare tire, jack. if it's your dd and you still want it to look decent interior wise then i dunno what to tell you
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    (rex) yeah, well there has already been extensive weight reduction, next is carpet =) But I think I have to focus on engine and drive train, primarily engine. What can a man do??? Im thinking pull the motor and redo all my gaskets and seals, replace any sensors, prt and polish? But with a PP I would lose economy! Maybe I should chip it?
  • michaelhinkle1michaelhinkle1 Senior Wagonist
    chipping it would be good, i wouldn't remove the carpet tho, it doesn't even weigh 2 pounds. you could remove the dash, passenger seat and driver seat and replace them with lighter racing seats. that saves you about 20 pounds, or if you leave out the passenger seat about 40 pounds. you could d-vac the car too, it helps gas a little bit (so i've heard) and boots performance a tad. upgrade the exhaust for and do a mpfi swap (if it hasn't been done) and other odds and ends. also, you could swap the cai for a better one, aem makes really good models.
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    carpet has to be at least 10! I would also painfully remove the nose dampening material! I did this on my old DX!!! The carpet in that b was like 20 pnds i swear, and so gross =)
    mpfi swap, done
    cai = aem
    d-vac??? This might be something to look into!

    Im thinking about going MSD ignition and high performance Plugs/ wires, more high performance than now ;)
    Might extend the CAI to where the resonator used to be, its colder there =)

    seat upgrade isn't in the wish list yet, too many other things =)

    you wanna save 10 pounds? go on a diet :lol:
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    im already a rail!!! I explained the weight concept to my beautiful perfectly proportioned wife, and she concluded that the 2nd person added weight and held the rex back so she would loose weight, it was an unusual conversation ;)
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
    hahaha, yeah so am i... 140 pounds, 6 feet tall.... anywho.

    i suggest taking a serious dump, and not eating before you drive. dress lightly, or just go naked. shave your head bald, and all the rest of your body while you are at it... simple weight saving tactics :lol: :roll: alright im done.
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    haha, you could be onto something. You've let that EDM stuff go to your head!

    we destroyed this thread with nonsense. but if you d-vac the system, whenever you "floor it" it dumps more fuel thus the reason for the increased performance.
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    is there another term for D-vac? I can't find anything about it? Dumping more fuel doesn't really merit better performance I don't think. Maybe it burns if more efficiently? Im interested in this discovery!
  • michaelhinkle1michaelhinkle1 Senior Wagonist
    it increases the air flow and the flow of fuel through the engine, it basically "loosens" things up a bit so you have more play. i'm heard in some cases it's a bad idea and in some it's a good idea.

    i just know it as "d-vac'd" you remove vaccum lines from the car and other things, post a topic maybe someone has some experince.
