H22 swap? ;)

Soo I'm thinking of selling the B16 and dropping an H22 in there with a H2B kit.. I need the extra power because I carpool a lot and the B16 struggles with 4 average size men in there..

Questions:
Is the B16 tranny good for the H22? Or is the gearing so low is could mess up?

What will be required?

Can I use my B16 cable tranny on the H22A?

What will be needed to convert my wiring to OBD1? (I already have MPFI and VTEC)

How reliable is the H22 with the H2B?

Where the eff is the main fuel relay in my car? I removed the fuse block and still don't see it..

Would the extra 60 pounds of torque and 40 HP be worth it?

its all in your head man, you just think its struggling cause you got used to the power. i used to haul people with the B16 teggy all the time..as long as you arent racing its fine.

well, you'll prolly end up spending $2000 on a nose heavy swap... not worth in my opinion. why dont you just get a JRSC?

he wouldn't be spending but a few hundered $ since he's selling the b16 to fund it

it's basically like you're upgrading something on a video game and only paying the difference between the price of what you have and the upgrade.

    i see b16 engines with around 30k miles go anywhere from 850 - 1500$

i believe Rywire has a jumper-set or some other thingamajiggy that does all that for you. it honestly isnt that hard, mostly plug and play.
doubt it, hes still thinking about it. it only has around 30k miles on it.

dude, let Kahuna reply to his own thread  btw it got more like 50K on it. if not more by now.

It only has about 40k on the motor.. I've only put 10k on it since I swapped it..

JRSC is a lot of money for the power you get... You really don't get that much.. IF I go FI, it would be a procharger or a Vortex charger..

martin why jump on me about that whenever you answer nearly EVERYONES threads. i was lending a helping hand in order to resolve a faster answer since kahuana is rarely on.

    "Info:
140,000 on body around 30,000 on motor.. "

is in the vehicles thread so i was going by that.

    i just feel like it.
im in that pissy mood. moderator yessssss........

no but honestly, im sorry... just a lot of stress everywhere i go

    anywho...
imported engines from Japan almost always have around 45K miles on them, because thats the legal limit (so im told) to have on an engine over there before you start paying heavy taxes and fees and such, thats why there are so many of these damn motors around. idk, some website said that.

hey Kahuna, once you get the H22 and i have my B16 w/ JRSC, we need to race brothah, fo sho!

I mean, who knows how many mile it ACTUALLY has unless you get the odo. Maybe its a big joke, the Japanese don't have these standards but say they do so they can export them and make bank =/

    lolz, probably

it's all good man, you just kinda jumped at me, but it's whatever. as far as that restriction goes. i read somewhere it was 60k and they have to pass some sort of really strict inspection or else the car is "junked" and they can no longer drive it. it has to be sutable for there driving laws, most people walk in japan anyways, and thats the reason why.

and he would own you martin! haha, h22 vs b16.

    edit:

    Honda H22A Engine JDM
    Displacement (cc):2157
    Power (bhp@rpm):220 @ 7,200 rpm
    Torque (ft/lbs@rpm):163 @ 6,500 rpm
    Compression Ratio:11:1
    Cam Design:DOHC
    Valve Train:VTEC

    VS.

    B16A Engine JDM
    Displacement (cc):1595
    Power (bhp@rpm):158 @ 7,600 rpm
    Torque (ft/lbs@rpm):112 @ 7,000 rpm
    Compression Ratio:10.2:1
    Cam Design:DOHC
    Valve Train:VTEC

now that i think about it, i dunno if i'd do the swap. i vote go for a turbo build and some more minor or major mods and keep the b16. but, it's all on you man.

Taxes in Japan are based on engine displacment, and which prefecture you live in. Also when a car is first bought the "Shaken" or inspection isn't due for three years. The Shaken is known for being super expensive and super strict. My family has said that their inspections can cost a couple of grand easy. Each inspection after that is due every two years and the price goes up. One of the reasons you see a lot of used cars is because there is a lot of DEALER incentives to buy new cars. My family usually pays for the first inspection and trades in on the next inspection. The Japanese public transportation system is like the European one, very convenient to use and usually cheaper than gas so a lot of cars don't have the high mileage that the US cars typically see. If you live in the cities of Japan a car is a luxury not a necessity.
