[EE/EY/EF] Installation of Rear Wiper Controller

Hello all, I decided to remove my rear speaker pods and intermitten rear wiper controller from my old wagon and install them into my new wagon, while doing so I'll write a how to on both since I didnt see one and I forgot who it was that PM'd me with a question about this wiper unit. So here we go.

Step 1: Obtain The Unit & Ditch This Pocket

Step 2: Remove Under Dash Panel - Coin Pocket - Steering Column Cover (helps also to remove the cluster if you wish, to access 1 hidden screw ontop to allow more freeplay on the dash to slide this in)

Step 3: Remove All Necessary Screws Holding The Plastics Down

Excellent write up and pics.... Thats a nice option. I never seen that on any wagon. Where'd you get that? Shit! I might have kept my rear wiper if I saw this option before....
  • Got it off of ebay from a japan seller that ships to the USA. Waiting for it to rain again...

    Awesome pics and write-up!!

Now, tell us, who is this mysterious "ebay japan seller that ships to the USA" ??

    Cheers !!
  • I beleive his name on ebay was: (jdm_pro_tokyo) :P
  • Anything available to make the fronts more adjustable as far as delay timing?
  • I opt for rain sensor if we go that far...
  • I opt for rain sensor if we go that far...

That would be quite a bit more complex than adding an adjustable delay. Surely some foreign model civic or rex got some sort of adjustable front wiper delay.
  • Ya, I mean if you really wanted to you could go aftermarket, back in the 80's my mom had a corolla that had a delay for the front wipers, it was a little aftermarket box with a slider knob that slid sideways, and was adjustable up to 20 seconds, kinda cool. But aftermarket

Raintracker makes one.I think it was $60-$80(shipping cost??).Won't read if you get Rain-X over the sensor.Looks like a good option based on cost.

I'm thinkin 1 for the front & 1 for the rear.
