I never plan on selling this car, and if I do I want to sell it to another enthusiast. The plan at this point is to weigh my options on what to do with what...

Yeah, so taking it as it comes I've decided to take the PS belt off and later completely remove the PS system and set the rack up according to this guys post http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=184202&postid=1666202

Seems like the best option. Right now w/o the PS belt it feels like the crx. It was weird because I only drive the wagon now and I've become familiar with the PS. Anywho, that is that regarding the PS issue.

Next in line I have to do something with the AC. After thinking about it, and you all might laugh, I decided I don't want to have the compressor and hoses etc weighing me down or lagging the motor, so I think I will loose this modern commodity. However there will be days when its too hot for the family to load up and take to the road and on those days we can bring an extra cooler equipped portable DIY 12v AC. See here http://www.instructables.com/id/Portable-12V-Air-Conditioner---Cheap-and-easy%21/

Its not charged/ may not work right now and the weather is fine so far this year.

After that, I want a Vtec head and do the suspension right with teg springs to raise it 1 1/2" Get AM header and CAI and a nice exhaust set up.

I will piece together the body as I go, but at this point im thinking that I will focus on used parts and DIY mods for the body.

Today after I took the PS belt off, mades sure it would run ok, I also disengaged the 4WD to FWD and it feels great. YAY

Im becoming a picture whore.

I had put the 14" on so I could paint the whitey's only to discover my frnt ds wheel has a stripped post bolt, so I can't get the thing off ATM.

I've driven the thing everywhere w/o incident before discovering. I can only imagine the trouble though if I had a flat =(

I also made a visit to Pull A Part in Lville. Got some goodies and I also took what was three seperate pieces of a once new climate control unit and bondo'd it back to one piece. It had a *Todds Plate, on the face so who knew it was all busted. Anyways, my control buttons all stuck too, so I got them cleaned and its like new. Jarod will def appreciate this little fix, Im sure he remembers the problem. Lets just say it looks and acts like it did the day it rolled off the assembly line. Im happy.

Firstly, Jarod, I thought of you today when I saw a Subby I have never seen in real life

And here is the Shelby Footage from the SE.

Who'd thought a phone camera would be handy?

NOW, I have NO footage from the Farm, but I do have footage NTL.

And for fun the CRX going through a tunnel at Red river gourge =)

Well, I want to do some research and find out what I have to do to raise the wagon 1.5 inches. This will gain me wanted clearance. LMK what you all think!

BTW, all the pics and vids *except the CRX* was taken by my trusty little 50.00 phone =)

I swapped the whites for a set of 14" steelies (winter set) off the CRX. The front Driver side lug stud is ina freespin. Ima take it to a tire shop tomorrow.

When I went to the DMV the guy behind me was registering the Shelby. He had won it in a race lolz. Afterwards he invited me to take a spin with him, i did. *) It was cool.

Here are the latest of my rides. My wife and I are selling her Cougar for a 6th Gen civic, keep it real uknow. The wagon is what i brought home after my honeymoon. Lights are in the mail so I will have it legal in week or so. Love the mock up for the crx and wagon...

    Update
  • killer, the whole setup is killer!
your cars are beautiful, stick with them, i'd love an update on the wagon.

i lost sherman's number and left isaac a message to call me, i'm still waiting unfortunitely, he goes through times when he's really hard to get ahold of, i was at his house the other day but just talked to his mom, he wasn't home...

anyway, looking good, i'm excited for you to get it street legal.

    I've been sooo busy.

Moved into new home w/ garage =)

Took new job >money, but I love it.

    I never have time.

Our baby boy is due in ONLY 6 WEEKS.

    Anyways, the real stuff ;)

So the wagon was worked out in the front a few months back then painted black, it looks ridiculous. But the newest development with it is the alternator has gone bad and I've been so busy I've done nothing more than keep it on a charger once a week. Amazing, I can drive that thing almost 300 miles on a single charge with minimal night driving. Noticed that using the lights cut that in half.

    Speaking of miles!

    Ok, this is good stuff.

I've been meticulously tracking mileage and I have some good numbers that are impressive imo.

    4wd + standard driving (shifting @ 3 in 1st, 2 in 2nd +) = avg 24 mpg city

no 4wd + standard driving = avg 26 mpg city (this includes maybe 70 miles of hwy driving on a single 350 mile tank)

    ok the good stuff.

All out balls to wall, hypermiling, I mean shifting at right above a grand and killing the motor at long lights and NEVER hitting the interstate so to stay on roads NEVER going above 55mph etc and 4wd disengaged.

    369 miles on one tank.

    All city driving too.

Once I did 340 it was like a game, so for the next month and half I specifically went out of my way to drive more miles to test this. The route I took to work every day was a bit out of the way, however as it turns out it takes no longer than the through city route. Less lights and less traffic. I became addicted, had a method and was irritated at people NOT hypermiling with me.

350 came easy, but I knew there had been a few moments where I lost patience and joined the speeders.

364 came and I still had some fumes I know it.

I also believe that 369 wasn't all she had but I've not been hypermiling for a while. Business has me in the fast lane lately and I drive that way too.

    ABOUT THE REX.

    Jarod will appreciate this.

My beloved CRX is on jack stands in the garage with NO molding on the DS, door and rear gutted, no head lights, tail lights, front bumper cover and bumper removed and wet sanded. Oh yeah.

This is my first restore and it takes soo long and Im kinda scared. Once you strip all the stuff off you see the rust and years of wear and you think, damn, this might not go back together. But I love my black CRX and I really feel like I am going to accomplish this.

So that is the update. Show some love and reassure me that the stripped bolts, broken extractors, bent metal and busted knuckles are what its all about.

i feel you completely there dude.

we both need reassurance..cause sometimes, i start doubting everything...

anyways, in for some pics man ;)
  • i'm sorry i've been a while checking this my friend!
you were right, that whole post made my day!
from the hypermiling to the crx torn down getting the love she deserves!
stay strong and know i'm trying to get back in a wagovan if my buyer comes through this evening!
    wish me luck!
now family get-togethers will be like mini wagovan meets!

oh and we'll say a prayer for you, i believe megan is being induced this morning, wagovan guys send one up, Jarmerson is gonna be a daddy today!

i'm getting so amped reading all this and thinking about Judah that i'm just gonna try and call you again!

Hey Jarod thanks for your support, it means alot. We will be out next weekend - no wagovan tho.

HOWEVER - I got the CRX out, took her for a spin and got her turned around to bring down the pass side. Very excited.

I took the air intake and front sway bar and put them on the wagon.

I replaced the batt terminals with gold/ brass terminals.

    I then got brave.

I swapped the dr seat from the crx with the wagons - pan for pan - IT WORKED! Yes, the CRX driver seat is now my wagons driver seat, it does seem to sit lower too.

While I was at it, I went to install the new headlight bracket from bam bam only to notice there was zero difference I could see between the crx heads and the wagons, so I decided to leave it.

Then one of those creative moments happened.

I changed the oil in the wagon and decided to embark on a journey

I bolted on the CRX front bumper and bumper cover.

Why? It solved a handful of problems and the rex is tore down anyway, the parts were already taken off.

    THEY FIT

Not 100% perfect, but perfect enough that I was able to get all the lights in and secure the parts like they were meant to be.

So I went ahead and wired the fogs too.

One of the ports in the fuse box was actually something I had no idea existed. I wired it so they auto turn off when the car is turned off - and they auto turn on. Of course I added a kill switch.

    It was freeking great!

    Pics soon...

So Jarod how was the day working on your current project car?

What the heck are you in these days anyhow?
  • jarmersonjarmerson New Wagonist
    * not pan for pan, it was the pan cushion for pan cushion and the seat backs swapped right out and bolted up...
  • first of all, waiting for pictures is gonna kill me

I'm so excited, you know this post made me smile.
Great to hear you got so much accomplished, man, you were inspired that's for sure, and that sir, inspires me.

I seriously cannot wait to see pix, and I am glad that the seats worked out so well and that they were a bit lower, thought that might give the car a sportier feel to it.

And wow, what you've accomplished, so much fun stuff!

I was so bummed that i missed your call (left my phone in the car when we were working on it), then later for got to call back, then ended up locking both sets of keys in the forester at the mall while trying to get the kiddos in safely...
Just crazy, but man, would it have been nice to have you all... but God works things out for a reason and come sunday morning, Julie was under the weather, which wouldn't have been good to have little man Judah around.

So we'll be looking forward to seeing your crew next weekend!

As far as my projects go, it's funny that we also had a productive weekend!
    :D
Cat was cloged up tight so friday night, i threw on a resignator i had laying around the garage, i was worried it might not fit but it bolted right up.
Also installed a set of performance headers a good friend Donated after going turbo on his crx.
I was scared about doing the two becuase i don't like loud or droning hondas but much to my suprise the car sounds completely stock... go figure.
Only under throttle can you tell much difference and i still think most people would have a hard time telling, all the better for me!

Then saturday morning, i took the car over to a friends house for some updating.
Tunned it up and it's running great, checked all the major stuff and some of the minor, installed a new fuel filter and intake.
I also picked up a strut bar he had laying around his garage.
The front driverside strut is busted and creaks a bit, and as luck would have it, my buddy had a set of teg struts and teg coilovers which i picked up for a song.
I'll be spending the weak soaking all associated bolts with pb blaster so thursday hopefully everything will go on smoothly.

So I had a great weekend with the honda!
Can't wait to see what mpg i'll get.

... we cannot wait to see your little family again man, seriously.

I think we might make a trip up to visit you all soon too.

    412.jpg

    Found a wagon in town.

There are a few, I need to try to touch base with them. When they go to get rid of their wagons I need to be there so I have my own marketplace (beeches).
    413.jpg

we took this beast to lville and back for a celebrating before I resigned with THP. This bastard got like a whole 8mpg or something retarded.
    414.jpg

Sorry for the poor qual pics, I took em on my cell (all of them)

I had a chance to hang with a fam member who knows his rides and we discussed the options for the wagon. I've decided to go with a rat-rod style. I don't think its worth my time trying to source parts to replace stuff and since the marketplace is now limited to cool guys who get votes, I don't care. I don't think I want to be that guy with the nice slammed civic wagon, I want to be the guy who thinks a missing rear bumper cover and fully exposed rust is cool (me still gots the CRX to dumb thousands into ;). I will however focus on performance, what that entails time will tell.

I want some creative ideas for the rat-wagon...

My wife thinks I should pierce the front bumper. I want to roll the fenders, mark ever spot of rust with a sharpie and clear coat them and bolt a 4x4 piece of wood in place of the rear bumper cover, paint it black and write RAT-WAGON on it.

    thoughts?
