to you Wheel Whores out there- Help me out =D

so, i picked up a set of Zender wheels made in germany, blah blah for $80 with brand new tires from a junkyard deep in the woods in the Georgia country. lolz...

my issue is, i cant get them on my waggy cause the lug nut pattern was a tiny bit bigger... so i figured "hell, they are 4x114.3 lug pattern" so me and a friend tried to get them on his 240SX but NO they were too small :?

so um, wtf lug pattern are they?! 4x112?? and is there anyway i can modify these wheels or get an adapter of sorts to make them fit on my wago? these rims are really hot and i'd love to rock them. anyways..

plz n thx

$80! that would have been one hell of a find if they fit.

yes you can make them fit. if you had a shop near you it can be done.

i can only tell you of what my local shop can do and charge.

first they will fill it up with the same metal your wheels are, then they redrill it to fit your lug pattern. it doesnt look all bad but its kinda different after its all done.

filling it up here will cost about 10 bucks per hole, then to redrill per hole another 10 bucks.

i was thinking about drilling them. i have a huge set of drills and the way these are, it looks like it could be a DIY..?? i dont wanna muck them up though. eh.. i'll take a picture of the innards.

here is a picture of the lug holes..

the red is showing how much extra metal there is after the dish-shape of where the lugnuts press up against... savvy? if that extra bit was drilled away these wheels could fit. its only like 2 mm off. so if i took off 1 mm on each lug hole... it could work...

ummm, you dont want to drill them by hand. it doesnt work that way. the shop has a wheel tool that is pretty big as i have heard. it needs to be precise. if its off a bit your wheel will not only fit incorrectly but it will turn off balance.

they dont just drill. they have to close up the hole. then they drill a new set of holes. you cant use existing holes and enlarge them. if your not enlarging them and end up making other holes, measurements need to be precise. when they drill it they are measured from the PCD to the exact outter diameter of the wheel hub. wheels are not something that i personally would do myself, for safety reasons.

if you do end up doing it yourself, good luck. let us know.

the only other advice would be, if you do end up doing it and it wont be precise, to help with the wheels from not rotating off center you should get HUB CENTRIC RINGS. the rings will help a ton from having the wheel from being off center.

i see. im going to put these on hold for a while for now, maybe search some shops that would do this for me... i just dont wanna end up spending $240 on a fricking hole job, haha... seeing as these only cost me $80 and they are kinda scratched a lot here and there. ah well.

exactly, you can expect wheel shakes if you DIY.

for safety i would say dont do it by hand.
i know it seems very minor for such a mod, but a lot of accidents happen cause of minor things.

for cost you could just do it, but youll need to get hub centric rings.
the rings are about 25.00 for the whole set of 4.

Whats $80 when considering your (or your family/friends) safety?

They have them over here on some fords 4x108 and I have seen them on some old Mazdas which might be 4x110.

Measure the holes, clean them up and sell them. Might make you a little extra cash towards those sportmax's you have been wanting.

X2, man. Don't screw up nice vintage wheels by drilling new holes in them. That shit be janky, and not worthy of your car.
  • I had a friend that enlarged the hub part of a fat five so he could put it on his mk2 gti. He did it with a hole saw/drill that he found to be the correct size. I however, would never try that or this as a diy project.

BTW, your pics don't work and I want to see them. :D

hmm, my pics work for me!! anyways, dont worry im not going to drill those wheels, that was just like a me being tired comment

i really dont wanna sell them though, cause they are really awesome looking and so old skool.

rage, i believe they are 4X110 or 4X108, the dude who i got them from said they came off a Ford Escort..? idk if he was correct though... anyways.

anybody know of hub adapters for these?? i know they exist for 4x100 -> 4x114.3 but does that make your wheels stick out another 1.5 inches or so. anyways... i'll so some research tomorrow. right now im sunburned and damn tired. lolz...

    i think i found what i need...

how do i measure the lug pattern....? from center of the hole to the center of the next one over or across?
  • ragenasianragenasian Moderator
From center of one hole to the center of the hole directly across from it.

Yeah don't mess up a set of zenders. They are getting a little harder to get a hold of. You hardly ever see them on a car here anymore. It seems that on some older mazdas they were a factory option.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
yep, i measured last night... 4 inches for my 4X100s and 4.25 for the Zenders sooooo that means its 4X108. the redneck was right
  • I can see them now as well. Must have been some weird internet malfunction.
