Borla mufflers = sex

so i got my Borla Pro XS universal muffler installed that i got from ebay for $85 shipped. i have a 2.25 inch straight pipe coming from the cat, going into 3 bends to go around the LCA and into the muffler. (basically it sits like stock). no resonators, just the muffler.

sounds AMAZING. reminds me of a BMW, no joke. there is absolutely no rasp even without resonators and it is very quite under normal driving. even when you punch it its not loud. im telling you it sounds like a BMW. hah... like, it sounds serious, not gay.

anyways, for the money EVERYONE should go and get a Borla muffler if you are looking for a replacement to the stock drinking straw but dont wanna sound like every other ricer in town. and for $85, you cant beat the price.

Borla sounds like no other Honda.. IMO the best muffler setup I've ever heard on a Honda, and you don't have a big rice can!! Yayy!!

Get your sound clip aand I'll try to get mine and we will see what the B16 and D15 sound like and stuff..

    BORLA FTMFW!!

im glad i listened to you ;) i love the fact it looks stock and that you cant really see it.

from your video clip and from what i hear with mine, they are a bit different. mine seems quieter..?

Is the Borla a straight through design, or is it like a Flowmaster with baffels? Any pix?

Ive always used teh Magnaflow mufflers, but they have been on the loud side for me. So I always add a nice sized resonator to quite it down a bit. Plus thier tips are the closest to stock that I could find.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
mine is an offset-in center-out and i can see straight through it. i dont have any pix of the interior though, sorry.

this sounds very close to stock, but has a nice deep tone when accelerating, and if you punch it especially. i revved to 5000 with it and didnt have any rasp at all, and it wasnt that loud either. hard to explain, but you wont need an resonators.

i'll try to get a sound clip next week...
  • KahunaKahuna familEE
Agreed.. Mine is center in and out.. So that could be why mine is a bit louder, plus more miles would make it louder as well..
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
i was wondering if center-in and out would be louder. this store only had this one in 2.25 inch size though =)

so i installed the last bit to the muff, the tail pipe- a 90 degree bend out the bumper cutout. this thing is officailly quite as stock.. haha. not that thats GREAT butttt at least it doesnt sound like ass. i did a sprint today on the way home, and i could just faintly hear the BMW in the ass of my car :P

EDIT: i'm thinking of running a 2.25" straight pipe from the cat to the borla muffler, good or bad idea?

thats exactly what me and like 1/2 the other members on here have. hahaha :D (just different muffler brands)
  • michaelhinkle1michaelhinkle1 Senior Wagonist
well damn, haha. a friend of mine has a old old old accord with a b18 swap and he's running a straight 2.25" pipe without a cat, it sounds like a giant ass going down the road but he says it gets better airflow, true or false?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
its true, but its stupid. it messes up the emissions and the engine wont run as well. plus it stinks and is terrible for the environment. and the HP gains arent going to be noticeable anyways without a cat. if someone is worried about HP loss then get a high-flow performance cat.

he doesn't care about emissions, he owns a shop up the road from my house, they rip people off left and right. they also own a beat up car sales place, whenever cars roll in the lot, they take off everything work money (coilovers, aftermarket performance) and put in cheap ebay stuff.

wow, those guys sound like douche bags.
i hope with 2.5" piping and a magnaflow cat mine sounds good.

they are, they'd rip off anyone for an extra penny.

I think with the correct muffler the resonator is BS and not needed..

I have Header, Magnaflow high-flow cat, straight 2.5" piping to the Borla, then 2.5" out..

Sounds amazing and has no rasp.. VTEC gets deeper and not high pitched like most..

And at 6-7,000 RPMS, she starts pulling like a beast... But you guys wouldn't know anything about that.. ;) haha
