sometimes, it wont kill the stink, my moms cat slept in my car all winter, i used 4 cans of carpet cleaner and a wet vac, removed my two front seats.
i scrubbed the carpet with a wire brush, made it look brand new but i can still somewhat smell the cat.
wet vac and you should be good.
not on the seats. just the carpet.
i mean, if you want.. go for it.. if you like gaping holes and tears in your upholstery
the carpet cleaner would take mostly everything out of the seats since it isn't as wirey an thick as the carpet
I'd say go down to the junkyard & pull 1` out of a wagon.
take it out, go to the local car wash (not auto wash). scrub it with a nicely scented DISH SOAP, really scrub it in and get a good lather going. i've abandoned most cleaners and find polmolive apple dish soap is the best general cleaner there is. then, pressure wash the shit out of it and let it dry out in the sun. while it is drying, give your headliner a good scrubbing.
The grit in it and a stiff plastic brush does seats and floor carpet the best.
Use a big shop vac (Sears biggest is $99.99) and suck the water and soap out of the seats many times during the process or it'll take a month to dry out.
Floors can be flooded with a garden hose six or seven times and sucked out with the vac to get all the soap out.
Be careful not to splash water up under the dash. Remove the filter from the vac to keep it dry (water will wreck the filter).
Pop the seats out and let them dry completely in the sun for a few days and leave the doors open for a few days to dry out too.
Done this process many times - works like a charm. You'd be surprised how tough car carpet is. Lots of times what looks like a worn out spot is just caked in dirt and the fibers of the carpet are 'saved and protected' since they aren't grinding away in the grit over the years.
