Fuel pump

Have any of you had to change your fuel pump, ecu, or main relay to fix a no start problem....

  • I have had to change the main relay.

Give us some more info on your problem and maybe it can be narrowed down.

    Does the motor turn over?

Are you getting any ECU codes?

I've tried the relay only code is a 16 but it resets I know i'm getting spark and injector signal...it'll run on starting fluid or gas down the throttle body no fuel pressure and it blows #14 fuse if I leave the fuel pump connected and try to start it . Jumpered pins 7 and 8 at the relay like the manual says and still didn't get fuel pressure. Can't hear it turn on but the relay seems to be testing fine. tried a known good relay off a running car and both relays run his car but I need another dpfi ecu to check make sure mine isn't defective;)

Sorry about the run on sentence I'll try to type better.

I'm 95% percent sure it's the fuel pump but since I haven't been able to check the ecu I cant be 100%.
I'm always lurking here and just figured I'd ask since ecu's and fuel pumps don't go bad that often. but it is 17 years old so....

Test the wires going towards the fuel pump for continuity. Test close to the front and then as close as possible to the fuel pump.

Also you can remove the inlet hose to the fuel filter and turn the key to the 2nd marker and see if fuel pukes out.

    Why do I know this?
Well I have done the main relay, which was a tight spot.
    Fuel pump was a :x
You got to drop the tank. Look under the passenger seats and there you'll see a center piece/cover remove it and disconnected the plugs. (If you have a lift it will make your life a lot easier),
Or jack that ass way up in the air.
Remove the Fuel tank drain bolt and your gas cap and drain all the fuel.
There are two straps that are holding the tank in and a U hook that is at the front of the tank. The bolts for the straps i think are a 12mm use a deep well socket. Umm once you got the tank low enough to fit your hand a some tools up the driver side of the tank you want to remove all the tube that are connected to the car. And then it should come loose.
I guess while you’re at it give the tank a chemical bath, so you start with a mostly new tank and won’t have to deal with rust or build up of junk in it.

If you got a Honda civic repair book it’s all in there. But it’s a pain. Just a heads up!

Also I switch out the ecu in my car. I got a dead wagon I’m working on so I barrowed the ecu from it. And it does not give me any issues. The other kept giving me ecu code 1. Stupid thing.
    But that a 5min install.

    But good luck.
