A/c Compatibility

Hello,

My car didn't originally come with a/c and Im trying to convert. I'm wondering if someone could tell me if I could use the a/c set up in a 91 coupe or sedan civic. Would it be a straight bolt up? Or would it just be best to get the a/c set from a 4wd wagon like mine.

Thanks for your suggestions.

i am thinking that the sedan might work but you might need some custom lines. i removed the ac out of my wagon so if you need anything let me know.

    I'm80% sure it's all the same kit.Basically all civic's 88-91.

YES it is the same kit....sanden or matsushita doesnt matter as long as you have the full kit. the sanden routes the ac lines different so make sure the ENTIRE kti is used and dont mix the two up.

the only difference is the brands that make the compressor. they both "look" the same..

    here is a diagram

Visual cues for the Sanden compressor are that it has a small, gold pulley for the clutch. The Matsushita has a larger black pulley for the clutch.

I'm currently on the hunt for a new/reman replacement for my mom's 1990 Wagon DX, and I think hers is a Sanden if I recall correctly. I'm verifying which it is so I can order the right one soon.

Like someone else already said 88-91 Civics had either make/model compressor - it was literally 50/50 - just make sure if you get one type of compressor that you also get the same type clutch, coil, hoses, etc.
