Brake caliper clearances

hey guys i have a 90 honda civic 4wd and i want to swap the calipers from a hatchback or crx to my wagon. the reason im doin this is because the 4wd wagon caliper is bigger and the like the SI hatch is flatter. so it touch my hub rims (they are 17") do you think it will work

Yea it would work but your downgrading. The 4wd models have the same front caliper as the Ex and Si.

You have the wrong offset rims. Get different rims.

    X2

Wrong offset... Your the only person who had clearance problems with a 17 inch rim. Those rims are not for your car Astuto. Trust me dont downgrade your calipers.

oh ok... cool. the problem is that the hub of the rims touches the bottom part of the calipers... i hope is the wrong offset so i can change it. thanks guys

actually now i remember it came out from a 01 civic coupe. dont we have the same offset w most of the civics. my is the 90 4wd wagon... thanks
  • He isn't the only one who has had these issues. I have had this same problem with a 16 inch rim with a 12 offset and a 15 with a 20 offset. The only issue was with the hub of the rim rubbing the bottom of the caliper.
The offsets I had were fine. I had no issues with rubbing of the outer part of the caliper, no rubbing on suspension components, only the hub rubbing the bottom part of the caliper.

Of course this was only remedied by purchasing new wheels 8)
