you know that cheap, crappy, rusted thing behind the radiator and in front of the engine you have to sweet talk to get the blamed dipstick back down through... I noticed on a pic of B18CWagon's white 'race wagon' that his is missing.
is there a really good reason I shouldn't whip mine outta there? it's a daily driver and doesn't have any problems with the cooling system. at least not anymore.
I know, I know... things are engineered for a really good reason. except when sometimes they're not, ya know? if I pull it what kinda foul problems can I expect? anyone?
any and all helpful info is appreciated!

i say leave it on....but that's just my two cents
you could always take it off and get it repainted in heat resistant paint?
I would eaither leave it off (never seemsed to make that much a diffrence) or Pull it off, and respay it with a silver coat of paint just to clean it up at a little. For the paint, make sure you use somthing that will stand the heat!
get some headers on your wagon and you can take that ugly heat shield off.
i found some used DC Sports headers for the 88-91 Civic for $50 bucks last week, but someone else got to it before i did..i was going chrome it out and keep it as an extra piece.
I mean, I'd like to have both but you can do one w/o the other?
It should be fine to only do the header and then do the filter etc. later on.. For best results, once you have the intake and maybe another power-adder, get it tuned on a dyno.
I belive it is flow vs. velocity...
For each mod you'll need to have the car tuned if you want the best results..
