The Honda HR-V

I understand the vast majority on here wont know WTF a HR-V is.
It's a kinda SUV "thing". Over in the UK Honda marketted it as the "Joy Machine"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_HR-V
Anyway. I was thinking out loud, because this thing is actually 4WD in some versions. It uses a D16W5 engine which is effectively the same as a D16Y8 SOHC VTEC.
The gearbox is a cable shift hydro and I believe it has five gears rather than six like the shuttle box. There is also a CVT gearbox option for it which is also 4WD. 8)
It uses the CR-V dual pump system but seems to have a centre viscous coupling.
Is that normal for the CR-V?
You can download a service manual for it from here if you wish to view more and do some reading:

I grabbed a capture of the internals of the gearbox.
TBH I'm wondering if this might be stronger than a Shuttle one without the extra shafts for the SL gear.
Wondering what the ratios are like and also about the diff as it uses an intermediate shaft like the shuttle.
I'll check the diff out with the UK EPC at some point to see if it matches anything else and might tell me if it's the bigger diameter one or some holy grail smaller one.
The fact that it's younger might mean it's the smaller shafts just like the JDM EG with the DOHC ZC. The gearbox is probably the same as the Teg ZXi and the JDM Ferio however.
Any knowledge on that folks (looking in direction of resident kiwi's) ?
Notice the transfer box has an alternative part which appears to be for covering the hole in the box if it's not fitted. The manual suggests elsewhere that the same box is used for 2wd and 4WD versions of the vehicle with a different diff inside the casing.

i've seen this box things rolling around quite a bit in Eurpope whenever i go.
And yes i was wasted when i thought of that.
You come over here a lot ??
Where abouts do you get to ?
I've totally wasted on several occassions with an ex-neighbour who was Hungarian and about 70
He was as mad as a fish. Was trying to build some sort of wierd overunity engine in his garden.
