I painted my clears with Orange window paint. Worked out great. Im in the hunt for another clear set so I can swap back and forth. Rev.... If you like to trade me your clears for my painted amber lmk. I'll do it.

I thought about doing that myself and just use what I used on my corners. Well since my paint guy is lazy and only did one coat of trim paint I had to touch the bumpers up today. I'll eventually do all the other trim on the car as well, but my lunch break was over. Haha

My buddy Uproot snapped this at work the other day after we did the bumpers. :)
  • Absolutely beautiful. Your wagon is a work of art, sir, truly inspiring. Excellent attention to detail.

I'd like to at least borrow one for a test-fit. I don' want mine that wide really, but need to get an idea of offset.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
That works, it's looking like I'm free all Saturday (so far) and the morning on Sunday. It'd be nice to hang out for a bit.

Got the mileage rolled back up to what I have on my body. I'd been doing my best to keep track since the odometer went out in June/7k miles ago! lol

Also, installed some LEDs in my cluster. I was told I only needed 3.....but I need 4! So I'm waiting on the one I just ordered to come in. lol I went with amber, which is actually not as bright as the original bulb. So I may or may not go for a brighter color or see if they carry any that are a little brighter.

My trans or clutch blew this morning outside of work. Luckily we were able to winch it in the parking lot with one of our Jeeps.

    dude that sux
    but
see a winch is very useful for our wagons ....

Haha yep. Since my built trans needs bearings before I'll run it again I may pick up a b16 cable trans with a phantom grip already installed for ~$350. Now to find a way to get it swapped out.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
BLAH. So I'm at a crossroad with this problem. I need to go ahead and order a clutch if that's the problem, or buy this trans. But I don't know how to diagnose which of those it would be without dropping the transmission, which is nearly impossible for me given the space I have to work with at home. I was able to wrangle up a loaner car, but I'd hate to pull apart my car and not have the parts to fix it immediately if I was using someone's space.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
So in neutral the clutch has to be pushed in for the vehicle to roll. In the bay you can see that the shift linkage is actuating on the outside of the transmission but in no gear will it roll, it just stalls the car out. I was basically going from 3rd to 2nd at about 15mph slowing down to turn into my work parking lot, then all of a sudden there was a loud noise and a little bit of smoke and the car died.

I'd say trans. If the clutch was bad it would still roll in nuetral.
    Just my opinion though.

Will the car run? (With the clutch in)

where's the car, still at work?
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Yep, the car will run, but it won't move. It's in the warehouse tonight but I'm going to try and get it towed home tomorrow during the day.

It's the trans, not clutch. Sounds like it's in 2 gears at the same time. Bent selector fork or some such.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Ah I see...well John's willing to dig into that other trans so I'm ordering a rebuild kit and carbon synchros (since they last forever and they're not to pricey) and having him put it back together. My dad loaned me his Ranger, it sucks to drive but its transportation. lol I can already say after driving the Ranger tonight I really miss my wagon.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Looks like I'm ordering case/shaft/diff bearings and carbon synchros from Synchrotech for my lsd short 1-4 trans. I have my stock flywheel and clutch if that turns out to be the issue, but the lsd trans needed to get rebuilt anyways so I'd rather go ahead and get it right and do hopefully just one more trans swap this year. lol
